Where do you get your ideas for blog posts?

I usually only look at others for inspiration if I can't think of something on my own. I think of things throughout the day but usually forget most of it before I sit down to write unfortunately. I do appreciate you guys posting ideas daily too.

I also participate in a couple of different memes a week.

I get many ideas from stories or opinion pieces in the daily newspaper. I also have some books that have really good writing prompts too, and sometimes those spawn blog post ideas.

I'm mostly inspired by photos sent to my flickr groups ...

I agree with most of the above. The worst place for me is sitting facing the screen. The best spontaneous moments are when driving. The best focussed way is sitting and reading, whatever it is. Most importantly, grab it when it appears and make a note!

I draw lots of content out of over sixty magazine articles I have published.
I seem to be a FAQ magnet, and often just answer questions as a post.
Do much counseling and often use those themes, rewritten to protect the innocent.

I also enjoy using the Weekly Photo Challenge to write something. This week, I wrote about eyes RED from crying. (Actually, it was a quotation from a famous man.) This has been a fun diversion for me.

I usually think about what goes on around me. sometimes i know what images i want to shoot, sometimes its just was comes up unexpectedly...

As for my text blog, if i don't find pictures to go with my text, or if i am not in the frame of mind, the post just ends up in drafts

My posts usually comes as inspiration I grasp from everywhere. Most of the times when I watch a movie, a TV series, or read a book, a single word or a statement from a dialogue or even a scene perce could trigger a whole new post.

Daily Post prompt also inspires me to share my ideas.

Everyday mundane life becomes a story to tell too, a simple sitting on a hospital bed where I am right now could build up as a post.

A single word, one strong feeling, and a focus to write it with gusto what makes me publish a post. While writing, it is usually the time that I look for photos from my bucket or take a new one or browse online if I can't come up with my own - the photo reconfirms my idea in the first place and makes the post complete.

I carry a journal with me at all times. Often my ideas come whilst driving in the car & not during my scheduled thinking time! Some ideas sit on the journal pages for some months before they become blog content. If I don't write it down, invariably I will loose that brilliantly crafted sentence that sparks the entire post.

Most of my blog posts are my daily homilies, which I base mostly on the daily Mass readings from Sacred Scripture. I also get some ideas at times from sites like www.catholicculture.org which give me background info on the saints of the day or commentaries on the theme of readings.

All day I think of good things to post, then when I sit down in front of my computer to post, my mind goes blank and I can't think of a thing.
A lot of times I save myself a note or photo to remind me of a post, then after I post it, I delete the note and/or photo.

My blogs are specialist educational blogs and I share ideas / good websites for teachers. I often have ideas for posts or come across something useful which I add to a list in Evernote.

I am enjoying the postaweek challenge - I tend to consult my list and see which idea I feel like writing about!

Latest is Google Docs in WordPress - so pleased you can do that now!

I don't usually plan my posts, sometimes an idea strikes and if I am within distance to my laptop, I'll go to my dashboard and just start typing. Other times I will see something I'll save it to my drafts and then when I have a clear idea of what I am going to say I'll write it. I find researched posts harder and like to be more free flowing with my writing.

I tend to write and do research for links after if required, and I always credit people when I borrow their idea or subject matter. It's only proper blogger etiquette.

I also use daily post/weekly post for some ideas, they just might not happen on the day I get them. Most of the time it's out of my own little head, what's rattling my cage and keeping me up nights. Or just plain generic updates of my daily life.

    Tina Marie
