Should the NEA give Obama an early no strings endorsement at the Chicago RA?

Gee ianmko, I was just hoping for rejecting an early no strings endorsement. I doubt there is much chance of the NEA demanding Obama's resignation. And I do question your willingness to go with Joe Biden as president.

Obama is a worse president than even that miscreant Bush Jr. His flagrant violation of the Constitutional authority of the Congress to declare war on Lybia and the War Powers Act, are only the latest in a string of vile offenses against the public trust and the integrity of his office. I know teachers who tell me they are quitting, not just because of the pay cuts and other problems, but to join the military because, "there is no future in teaching." Really? Our young teachers see no ability for a future in our youth's education?

No. The NEA must instead endorse HR 1489, to reinstate Glass-Steagall, ending the bailouts of Wall street, and protecting the state budgets that are being looted, thereby solving the funding problems for schools. We must increase revenue by initiating another New Deal, with productive jobs rebuilding and upgrading our national economic platform. And also, the NEA should demand Obama's resignation.

NEA endorsement of President Barack Obama when Arne Duncan he is destroying public education, the problem is not Obama but NEA get rid of these folks in the leadership of this union who continue to kowtow to the privatization of public education. When Congress reauthorizes the ESEA this fall, there is talk about incorporating a parent trigger law but the trigger should be pulled on the unions for acquiescing too much to groups especially to philantropist making big bucks on federal market tax credits investments in education in underserved communities.

Politics is no different from bargaining. We have nothing to gain from an early endorsement. We should get COMMITMENTS before an endorsement. If we don't endorse, there's plenty of time to compare/contrast candidates, and educate the membership on the stances taken on education and labor issues. An endorsement indicates approval. Do any of really approve of Obama/Duncan on education and labor issues? Really?
