LoL. Why is Facebooking at work any different from visiting CBS's website while at work.. and taking polls? Guarantee the majority of the 73% that voted "Never - I'm Working" were at work, like Keven Said. No difference ppl..

All businesses that have workers on an Internet connection should be behind a proxy that logs all connections. To solve this problem, when each employee goes in for his status meeting, the employer pulls out the copy of the logs and point out each line and ask the employee how each website helped him do his job. That way they can show their customers how their employee is helping and billing them with their time. Embarrassment from both sides.

As a small business owner, I had a meeting with my employees and explained to them that wasting time at work on My Space or Face Book or any other social site is the same as stealing money from the company. I've only had to fire three people in 4 years.

HATE FACEBOOK! Wouldn't get on it if I had the entire day available to be on that site. It's nothing but gossip and a waste of time.

I wonder how many of the 74% voting "Never - I am working" read this article and voted while at work.

Roughly 20 to 25% of the workforce is employed by the government. Take a look at the statistics. It's not a coincidence.

There is a commercial out with a girl bragging about how she got her parents on facebook. She says they have 19 friends, she has 698, "this is living" she says. No little girl, your parents are outside living in the real world with real people not online in some fantasy lala land. Don't use social media and never will. Waste of time. Give me the real world, I am grown up enough to handle it.

First of all, the Dallas Government needs to block facebook. My work does. Granted I still use it on my phone, but at least they crack down on a major abuse.

30% of respondents use facebook at work, 70% are liars ;-)

Wouldn't it be easier for the IT department to put a block on the computers so the employees can't log into Facebook? Seems like that would pretty much solve the problem.

Unless you are in the SMMD (that's gov. speak for Social Media Marketing Department). I say let the people get sick of Facebook. Eventually you'll have to tire of it, or your work suffers enough to get you fired anyways. ;)

Entirely too many people spend entirely too much time on social media sites on the job. Let private employers do what they want, but the policy for those who are being paid from tax money should be no social media ever on the job. Zero tolerance.
