There are two ways to tell if a snake is venomous. One is by the shape of its head. Most--not all--venomous snakes have a diamond-shaped head.
The other way is by the shape of the pupil. Venomous snakes have an eliptical pupil. Non-venomous snakes have a round pupil.
I don't get close enough to see the pupils of snakes.
