How you can you compare a film that was made with £20 million to that of a film made with £250,000. Im not taking anything away from TTSS but Turnout is a true triumph of new English talent that have made a wonderful true-to-life London based movie on a shoe string. Having a comparison like this could easily stiffle new Directors like the talented Lee Sales when he needs all the praise and awe that his first attempt on movie making truly deserves. Look at the bigger picture people, this was written and directed with virtually no cash at all. The choice of casting is something to be admired as both George Russo and Ophelia Lovibond make you feel that you know this couple and are being taken on a journey through their roller coaster relationship. The cinematography is jaw dropping and the wonderful blend of music that runs throughout mixes well. This film needs to not only been seen but to be admired, if Mike Leigh or Shane Meadows were originally placed against a Holywood blockbuster in this way their careers would have never taken of and Lee Sales (in my mind) definitely sits amongst those two as a great new young blood with something powerful and emotive to say about British life. 10/10.

To compare two completely different type films, on the mere fact of their release date seems a little pointless. But I thought that there must be a reason for Metro to line a considerably lower budget, and first time project for these guys from East London. To a high end, star studied movie like Tinker, Tailor....
So, I've seen Turnout, and now I see why... But I haven't seen Tinker... Yet, so I'm not gonna comment, but I can why see the comparison this week.
Most of these so called East London gangster films are so very over the top. I wouldn't call this a Gangster film, more a love story, a story of realisation and learning from mistakes, and bettering ones self at the cost of, at the time, everything. Then realising that you only really lost one thing. The thing that only once lost means everything. Also you see the other side of Hoxton, it's not all haircuts and skinny jeans. And dealing drugs is not all it's cracked up to be.... Pardon the pun!!

Good work boys, can't wait for your next project.
