It is great when dog owners are open to baking homemade treats for their dogs. Good human-grade ingredients and the least amount of ingredients you use in your recipes, the better for your dog. Lean meats, coconut oil substituted for any oil called for in a recipe. Homemade broth is a good substitution for water and is easy to make. Just bring some water to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes with any combination of chopped kale, carrots, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, green beans and/or beets. Nothing else needs to be added. We freeze 1 cup portions in baggies or seal-a-meal bags and use in their food or when water is called for in a treat recipe. Most treat recipes call for up to 1 cup of water. Happy baking! I have made homemade dog treats before they turned out great and my dog loved them!
Ingredients
2 cups 100% organic whole wheat flour
2 4oz jars of pureed baby food
Directions
Preheat oven to 350
mix together to form a stiff dough. If necessary, add extra flour or water as needed.
on a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about a 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into desired shape or a pizza cutter to make cubes.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, place treats about 1/2 inch apart. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before storing in a paper bag.
(storing in an air-tight container will make them soft, but they're still edible.)
