The loss of a child is the loss of child, be in during the pregancy, or after the birth. I don't think they went to far with the memorial photo, and what a beautiful message it sends, if one opens their heart to recieve it. I feel the photos were a beautiful rememberance of an extremely sad loss of a child...as all losses of a child are. People have to handle their losses and grief the way that works best for them, and it is really quite common, more common than not, to have photos of the deceased person at the memorial; the only difference here is the age of the baby.
I lost my first child when she was 28 days old. I would do anything to have at least one pic of my child no matter what age they passed away. I have photos of my daugher in her casket. The last picture I will ever get to take her. I can't take anymore my precious daughter is in heaven now. I now have 6 more children which I wouldn't take back. The duggars didn't intend to release the pics - it was a young cousin who tweeted one and then they were released by a celebrity site but I don't know how they got hold of them; people often have photos of their children at a celebration/memorial but if sadly the 'first photos' and all the 'firsts' and precious togetherness happen to be with a child that has died and especially you've had that sharing of first loving moments 19 times so you ache for it and it is deep and ordinary especially; what isn't ordinary about that?
