When you applied for a Statutory Assessment:

I repeatedly asked the middle school/senco to get my son statemented but they said his IEP was sufficient and a statemnet wouldn't make any difference to his education. He has now started mainstream secondary school and they are shocked that he has not got a statement already and I am now trying to get this done through them. Although I don't have a clue what my rights are and what I should be asking for. I have to rely on the advice they give me and know that they will only help me to a point, but they have a seperate (money orientated) agenda to me. I feel I am failing my son and feel helpless as money is very tight and I can't afford to force the issue with private assessments to prove our case.
