To echo on Debra's comment it was done on opening day for the Royals which happened to fall on april fool's day.

This same thing has been done at arenas and stadiums all over. They did it at a Royals game and the girl threw a drink in the guys face.

What makes so many think it was staged?? If she didn't want to accept the proposal that's what I would have done too, just walk out! Maybe she thought the proposal (if she was anticipating one) should have been more personal.
