Would you ever put in wood like tiles instead of real hardwood?

We purchased a thirty year old house 8 years ago, in a suburb of Houston, TX Installed hardwoods, a year after moving in, thought the company knew what they were doing. They did do a moisture test but said it did not warrant special sealing. They DID NOT know what they were doing! The moisture from the slab has penetrated the woods, from the bottom up. They are now peeling, crumbling and molding! There is no saving any of the woods in this 2100 sq ft home. We wish we knew then what we know now about wood and how to properly install and determine moisture levels. My advise, do not lay wood flooring on a concrete slab, I wouldn't even do it with a moisture barrier under them after the expense of the flooring and installation and now the expense of removal, cleanup and replacement. Our replacement will be wood look tile, as I still love the look of wood and I dislike carpet. I hope this has been helpful to the readers, at least given them food for thought!

Love, love, love tile. When I build a new house, tile only. No carpet or wood floors.

I live in Florida. My concern with laminate, wood or bamboo is the same...humidity and water damage. Tiles are the only way to go for wearability and longevit in this tropical paradise!
