Short hair is easier in the short term, but remember that you'll be gone for a long time and you'll have to keep getting it cut to maintain it. Unless Mike can cut it for you, long hair is probably going to be easier.
So many pros and cons for both. I love pixie cuts and I think you would rock the look (you have been mentioning doing this for sometime) but I will say you have to be comfortable with letting your hair do it's natural thing (kinks, curls and frizz) so you will want a cut that works both ways so on days you cannot groom your hair you'll be fine when you see your reflection without a major cringe. I say go for it, what's the worse thing that can happen? You end up growing out your hair and yes you'll have to go through the weird growing out phases but you'll have a year to do it as you wonder the world. Plus you'll have another thing to write about. Hairdressers around the world and how you conveyed what your latest style idea just pleeeease, post photos :)
