As a Christian, while a student at The Franciscan University of Steubenville Ohio, I had the opertunity to hear recordings of Mike Warnke in 1980.
Firstly I enjoyed them very much; I have enjoyed the stylings of many comedian stories. No one ever gets upset because one of them embellishes a story to make the punchline more poinient. Similarly I don't dismiss Genesis because of scientific evidences accuracy. Genesis was a simplistic explanation geared to the ancient audience it was written for, in terms they could grasp. God gives us all discernment to divide for ourselves.

What exactly did Mike do that was so terrible? Compared to other ministers, priests, and evangelists he's not been accused of any crimes that I know of. People need to just stop putting people on pedistles in the first place but don't they love to see them fall! Compared to all the filth that's called entertainment these days, I'd welcome Mikes Comedy routine to turn to the secular stage. No one, and I mean no one, looks good under microscopic scrutiny, and Satan or the Media just love to drive wedges in to see what cracks. Mike Warnke was and I hope still is a Evangelist, Who used Comedy, Story Telling, and imagery to deliver the message. People heard the word and were saved, then weeds sprung up and chocked them, don't burn the harvest because of a few weeds. God loves us all, it is a shame we can't love one another. If Mike has sinned, that is between him and Jesus, and is not for us to judge. You who condemn him have played right into Satans hand, like the scribes and pharasies, you are hypocrites.

Bless you Mike Warnke, Please come back, in an America even considering electing Trump President, we need to laugh more then ever.

The things Mike Warnke has said, that ended up being lies, is s terrible sin, as with any sin , in God's eyes. This brings shame on Christ, his people and Mike himself. One thing that I think is that people forget that even though he has sinned, and I am not condoning the sin, he has led many people to Jesus through his ministry in the 80's. Maybe some people would have never been saved, if they never read his books, seen him in concert, heard his tapes,or related to him in some way in their life. God can use everything for good, even sin in our life. Now don't take this the wrong way, it was wrong of him to smear the name of Jesus, and I pray he repents, so God can use him again, but still in all, people have been saved under his ministry at that time. I am not defending him, but I believe he is sincerely saved, but fell into sin, like all of us have. I have kept all his tapes, and still listen to them, and enjoy the laughter. We need to pray the Lord works in his life and forgive him as Christ forgave us. Let God be the judge of him and pray that his heart will be changed and start serving Him again. I am so thankful to God that people were saved through his ministry, even if he lied about certain things, I find God still used these things for His glory. We should always rejoice over people being saved, as we know God and His angels do, no matter how they came to the Lord.God can use any willing vessel, including Mike Warnke !

In early 70's after I had come to Jesus, I heard a tape of his in which he said, "I'm tired of telling you how horrible a sinner I was, I want to tell you of how great a God I have." This stopped me in my tracks. I had come out of the darkness and was starting to embellish my testimony to make it more dramatic for the audiences. The Lord used this to teach me that all salvations were dramatic miracles. Then years later when he was exposed, I wept. My past had been so horrific, yet hidden, I, too, wondered if it really happened or not. I prayed for objective evidence. Some came in the mid 80's, but my memory unlocked in the late 90's and all the details came pouring forth. I was sick to my stomach--to say the least--at who was really involved, etc. I have often wondered about the Grace of Jesus and how I was prevented from doing the very thing he did, or allegedly did. I have then and continue to follow the wisdom of Eph. 5:12, "For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret." I know the Lord Jesus has removed my shame. I pray the same for Michael W.

Has anyone consider the fact that if he was involved with satanic people that they themselves would not want that to be exposed so they themselves came forward and made up stories about them all being sweet and innocent saying that it never happened... also wouldn't satanic people want to destroy my ministry?

I saw "The Satan Seller" in a secondhand book shop, some 18 years ago. I'd read Doreen Irvine and figured this was more of the same. The passage I read described a coven meeting and many of the ritual tools described were similar to those used in Neopaganism, a religion I was part of at the time. This annoyed me, as I figured what we had was some fanatical Christian twat, who had added up cats and dogs and come up with monkeys, as my teacher would say. A little from here, little from there and more Christians read the wretched book and confirm in their sadly narrow minds, that all witches worship Satan, whether we believe in him or not.
Finding out that the author was full of BS would've put a smile on my 19YO face! These days, as a Christian, I think it's unfortunate that so many high profile Christians are "bringing the game into disrepute", to use football terminology. I won't name names, but the money grubbing! I see these people use every trick in the book to get the unsuspecting public to cough up! I saw someone promoting a "Financial Freedom Bible" this morning, the bastard wanted US$130 for it! Just imagine how many real Bibles could be provided, if that money were given to The Bible Society!
As for Warnke, I think he should bow out gracefully. His credibility is long gone and even if he were to come clean and preach nothing but the gospel of Jesus Christ, most people are going to take his words with a good pinch of salt.

I think this article was well written. It takes a certain skill to expose something wrong in the church without having the exposure turn to slander. I was looking for an objective reporting of what Mike was doing now, and this seems to cover it clearly. Thanks for writing it. I think Mike could recover his ministry if he humbles himself and repents of what he has done to the public. God may lead him to do something different, but using his same giftings. But I have seen Christian leaders fall, many times, and the cure seems so simple, yet we usually miss it. This is an example to all of us, because none of us are exempt from falling, especially when we are in the limelight. Thanks for posting this. May God get the glory in whatever happens here.
