Are you supporting England in Euro2012?

It was rarely the English team that bothered me but the English media. However last night I had very mixed feelings because I think most Scots are a bit pro our more Northern Scandianavian cousins. However I was also pleased the way Roys team played and appreciate many of the Burds sentiments. Who will I support in their next game V Ukraine - England and look for another "exactement" Gerrard pass followed by poetry in motion, yip big Andy Carroll achieved that, the slowmo of his header is a photographers dream. More o' the same lads and some good youngies and different from the usual suspects in there.

Why is there an expectation that Scots SHOULD support England, and if they don't they are xenophobic bigots? Does France support Germany, Italy support Spain, Norway support Sweden? Just because you live next door to someone, does it mean they have a right to your support? I know next to nothing about football, and care even less, but , as I understand it, they're not an especially good team. Supporting one's own country I can understand, but supporting the neighbours, when there are much better teams around, strikes me as nonsensical.

To be honest, no, not a chance! I am not even bothering to watch them,Scotland is not there so why would I transfer my support? makes no sense to me.I also support Celtic and see no reason to support another team if Celtic are not playing. All the other stuff of cousins in England ,so what let them support England, there is only one problem I tune into the BBC for the international news ,and what do I get? England's chances at the Euro's?where they are training so I would rather have the news that its supposed to be,so I went and set up my Satellite receiver so I can get Al Jazeera. I remember watching England playing in the 66 world cup,and winning it,never thinking that I would be able to hear them mention it every week ever since, and worse than that it gets shown regular on the TV,its the nonsense we get after they get a win.Could give out more but why waste more effort.

I agree about the soft spot for Hodgson, fuelled by the sniffiness of some English (many of whom seem to be Liverpool supporters). His faith in youth is appealing and the youth in the squad are repaying him. I also rather like Welbeck's haircut and so was delighted by his clever finish for the winner. To be honest I was cheering on both teams, so have to declare myself neutral rather than an England supporter.

    An Irishman in Scotland

pedantic footnote: it was 1-1 in England's first match.
