FB should pay millions in wrongful firing! this is biggest BS i have heard to date on social etiquette wrt to mobile phones.

It would be understandable if this individual was expecting an important phone call or text and just HAD to keep her phone near by. Emergencies happen. But it should have been mentioned to the instructor before class. Otherwise fondling your phone in class is completely disruptive and totally rude to the instructor and fellow yogis.

And self righteous? Realy? Go to a real yoga class, experience silence and stillness within a room and within yourself and you will then understand what yoga is all about. No offence meant.

Yes, its idiotic to use cellphones in yoga. Hey if you want to help, heal and relax, then leave that thing alone for an hour or two, for God's sake. Otherwise, its like an alcoholic taking a medicine that heals/cures liver with alcohol! O_o I'm also yoga teacher and i use my cell(android) to open excel with class plans, but put it on airplane mode, so nobody disturbs me, let alone my students with calls, or sms, beeps, vibes. That girl is right to forbid cell use. The owner obviously hasn't a clue about yoga.

Seriously? I am amazed. The question is not whether cell phones are a good idea at yoga practice (clearly not optimal). FB hired the teacher with the stipulation that cell phones were allowed - she should have said no to the job. Instead, like so many self-righteous people, she took the job and decided that she new best. Good bye. Next.

Yoga is a meditative physical exercise. Silence and deep breathing are involved. Cell phones should be completely silenced, otherwise it interrupts practicioners' concentration and relaxation response.

Cell phones also have no place in concerts featuring classical music, jazz and other acoustic styles of music.

No problem at pop/rock concerts where a cell phone can add to the excitement of sending photos and short video clips to Facebook or whatever.

Texting, talking on the phone, constantly checking email while in class, at work, during a conversation... all of these are rude. If you can not be without your cell phone then stay at home.

yoga is about meditation! Sheesh why could you not put your phone on silent for an hour and just relax? It is not like the instructor called her out in front of the whole class--she just looked at her disapprovingly--the facebook employee needs to get a grip and grow up! What a brat!

I don't think it was fair, she was trying to do her job. I think it should,t be allowed in class mobiles or any other kind of computer device.
I am a teacher and I think it is really inapropriated in any class.
