I think it's simply ridiculous, and just plain rude, we're already walking around like a syfy movie of cloned people with little gadgets in our hands.

I go to enough meetings to be used to turning it off . Wouldn't bother me. It's only being respectful to everyone else attending.
And I bet there'd be controversy because not everybody can download the app if they don't have smart phones

Free movies would be cool for not using your cell, I paid to see a movie not to use your wi-fi.. Some people don't realize whats rude or not anymore.
