At the University of LIverpool we have been doing this for a while. SOme academic have been very wary of putting stuff on-line, especially lectures. What we have found is that (in Engineering) the numbers attending lectures DID NOT fall when the material was placed on -line earlier and that this material was primarily used as a revision aid in the build up to exams.
