Kelly, this is exciting! I voted for the state parks, primarily because I think it's more untapped territory than some of the others with fewer other people shining a spotlight on them. Keep me posted on your project and I'd love to have you do a guest blog post about it at Heartspoken -- especially when you get to where you're promoting a book.

I agree with that Shelly B. lady....
parks, barns, and old original homesteads .....plus there is too much right there in skyline drive not to tap into. It's a winner!

I find every category with potential...however the State Parks Project seems to carry the victory flag!
There are plenty of fine and well placed parks not only in the area but, through out the state of Virginia.
I would think by concentrating on parks, park history, land ownership, nature, and landscape will network you into some nice connections across the great state and some nice recognition for your awesome gift (painting and art) But, what ever you choose....enjoy it!
    Very best to you,
    Dean
I will expect an autographed copy thank you!

I love our State Parks, however, there are so many very beautiful views to be seen while driving from town-to-town. I'm especially fond of barns and some of the old homes that seem to have been around from the beginning of time!

You cannot go wrong with any of these choices. Follow what you are more passionate about at this time and who you want to reach with your work. Good luck with your decision.

This was a really difficult decision. From a more "commercial" aspect, I chose State Parks as I thought it could parlay into materials the State puts out for tourism. I know when I lived in Europe and taught English, Europeans were very interested in America's State Parks as tourist destinations. However, I also had a flash when looking at your options that Landmarks could be current scenes of former Civil War battlefield areas. Showing the beauty today of all the places where such turbulence took place would show the healing power of nature to erase wounds and restore destruction. Just an idea.
