I was born in Ocean Grove in 1952. I lived on Lake Ave. from 1979 until 2007, the last 22 years in the same house. Because I no longer reside in Ocean Grove, I have not voted in the poll. I would, however, like to make an observation. During my sojourn on Wesley Lake I was involved in one assault on Lake Ave. (before the gates went up) and suffered four burgalries, each one more destructive then the previous one (all 4 were after the gates were installed). I don't think that the gates make much difference to the crime situation other then perhaps creating a false sense of security for some. I have always felt that the negative feeling engendered by the gates in our neighbors and the seige mentality of some of our residents was far more distressing. I believe of more practical help would be for those who live on Wesley Lake to take better care of their lakefront (even though not technically their property). Bushes went untrimmed for years. In some spots it was impossible to pass along the sidewalk, never mind seeing what might be lurking there. Betterr lighting would also be of benefit. The answer for me was a security system-it worked, not the locked gates. Sorry to be so long-winded.

This is so obvious for a "yes" vote. It would be very helpful if a person voting "no" would comment on their reasoning.

It works. Why mess with success.
