As a junior in college, my daughter found an 'unpaid' internship. She was excited to learn through work experience. When she added the internship to her schedule so that she could receive college credit, we received a bill from the college because the credit for the internship put her over the credit limit! Thank goodness the college found some additional 'scholarship' money to help cover this cost.

My daughter has been getting paid for her internship with a wonderful company. She has many responsibilities and works just as hard as the other employees. She was even given a raise!! She just found out she will be hired full time in fall and she is beyond thrilled.

Student teachers are basically interns and they have never received payment.
