African American's are moving further back. What is the problems with a child wearing their own natural hair. Is it not beautiful to the school because it is not straight. We need to pay attention to the undercover racism targeted toward our children.

Most of all the administrators need sensitivity training, AGAIN!!!!!

I am a 50 year old black female. I am also a licensed cosmetogogist. I cannot believe this article. This is discrimination at its worst. Our natural hair grows up, towards gravity. Other races hair grow down. If you have a problem with afro puffs, braids or other ethnic hair styles, then you better go to the Creator. LISTEN PEOPLE..... those of you who believe in God, you are going to be shocked to stand before Jesus to discover his hair is really like wool. (black hair) He is not going to be your typical white Mesiah with straight hair. The BIBLE says his hair is like wool, not me. (Wool hair is kinky hair). We were not created to have hair like other races. We were created in HIS own image with this type hair. It is beautiful. Sorry that others don't agree. And, a school in Lorain? Lorain is full of blacks. Lorain residents should be outraged. Your hair does not control your ability to learn and think in school. Although it could be a distraction to other kids, the proper thing to do is ask the parents to control it and not let it go to big. And, it will go big. They accepted it in the 70s and 80s and it should be accepted now. I cut my relaxed hair off 2 years ago and I love the natural hair that was given to me. I work in corporate America. I refuse to let anyone tell me how to wear my hair. Sooner or later, other races will want to copy our style. Caucasians are now discovering weave, or hair extentions. What do you think tanning is all about? This is our heritage, our culture and who we were created to be. Stand up and stick together black people. This is terrible and this is an insult to our race and culture.

It seems that they are being a bit crazy with a lot of their rules. However, to say students can't wear afro puffs or braids is the worse. Doesn't make sense why they can't and they give no explanation as to how this is some kind of threat or can be dangerous. If my child went there I believe I would be seeing them in court. I am not one of these people who thinks everyone should sue anyone and everyone they can over the littlest things but this sure sounds like discrimination to me. Just so you know ... I am a 48 year old female from WV and I'm white.
