why did he go? what was his response? not enough info in the article to make a sound judgement or vote. my opinion right off top i dont think he should be attending rick ross or lil wayne concerts unless he is there trying to win souls.

  • Linda - 11 years ago

I don't understand why they did not talk to this young man first and another thing the bible says judge not and how can pastors attend award shows and there is nothing said but since he went to a rick ross concert he wrong, no one knows why he went, but If God gives us chance after chance after chance why can't you all at the church give him another chance cause the next church that hires this young man of God he gone have a powerful sermon straight from Father, so lets stop trying to judge others and Leave all the judging to our heavenly father. besides God knew he was going before he went, don't forget knew us all before we were conceived in our mothers womb! LET GOD DO AND WE CONTINUE PRAYING FOR OUR PASTORS YOUNG AND OLD CAUSE WE ALL HAVE SIN AND SHORT OF GODS GLORY,NOW PRAY, HAVE FAITH AND GIVE GOD THE FATHER ALL THE GLORY AND LET HIM WORK AWORK IN THIS YOUNG PASTOR

Scholars, laymen and Pastors" Some food for thought. Did you ever attend a Michael Jackson, Prince or Al Green Concert? Many pastors and secular musicians have played together. Rev. james Cleveland was accompanied on organ by Billy Preston. Andre Crouch was backup for Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Joe Tex sang "Meet me In Church". In fact, several years ago, Rev. Al Green was the star attraction for Memphis' popular July 4th Celebration Of course, he sang his popular love songs.

Consider this excerpt, "Michael Jackson's Bad video premiered on a CBS television special that aired August 31, 1987, before a national viewing audience. It conveyed a moving message (et al Case Edmund Perry vs NYPD) about struggling with racial identity, forms of machismo, and the problems of underclass black men in a potent mix of song and dance. It also also testified to the national, even world-wide, influence of Jackson's African-American secular spirituality."

Get a copy of The Theology of American Popular Music. Excerpt from Chapter Six , Contr. Editor Dr. Eric Michael Dyson. Duke Univ Press. I found this enlightening book in the collection of a noted St Louis pastor.

The only thing I would say is if the pastor was there for the purpose of preaching a sermon, I would understand. Often times pastors do things for the purpose of sermon preparation to have a first hand experience of the mode of our young people in the world today, but on the other hand if he was there for the purpose of enjoyment then HOUSTON we have a problem, the scripture declares that we should come out from among them and be ye separated said THE LORD OF HOST!!! Jesus said BROAD IS THE ROAD THAT LEADS TO DESTRUCTION AND NARROW IS THE ROAD THAT LEADS TO LIFE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE VOTE RESULTS YOU WILL SEE HOW TWISTED WE ARE AS CHURCH PEOPLE IN THE RESULTS. WE FEEL THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ANYTHING. WE ARE PRISONERS OF THE LORD ALTHOUGH WE ARE FREE, WE ARE
STILL ACCOUNTABLE TO THE KING OF KINGS. IF HE WAS THERE FOR ENJOYMENT THEN HE NEED TO BE COUNSELED BY A MORE SEASONED PASTOR BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY HE IS A NOVICE.
That's why people can't choose pastors, Jeremiah said God will give us pastors after his heart.

    God Bless

Was there a written contract between the deacons and this pastor that spelled out specifics of what he is allowed and not allowed to do? Did the specifics mention what movies he is allowed to watch, what type of music he is allowed to listen to and/or what types of books and magazines he is allowed to read? If yes, and if both parties have agreed, as a condition of his employment, that he is not to attend this concert, then the pastor is in violation of his contract. If the agreement was nebulous, the deacons are wrong. BUT the quality of his work should be the acid test, not superficial acts, like the kind of music he likes to listen to...

  • Janice Marie Singleton - 11 years ago

Would like to know if the Pastor was given a book of do's and don'ts when hired? After attending Lil Wayne's concert, was the Pastor given a warning that he would indeed be fired, if he ever attend a concert as such again? If the two above questions were not answered beforehand, he should be reinstalled, as he was obviously unaware of this dilemma. As he is a hired Pastor that did build this church from the ground up himself, the Deacon and Trustee Boards are not wrong for handling the situation as they see fit. However, it is "just" and "firmly correct" for one to be informed of the rules and regulations ahead of time If not, anything else is ludicrous. Is this the only problem that has occurred with your Pastor of 4 years? Surely, he must be a great Pastor in making. Please Church, act like the Savior, and forgive and forget this matter completely, and issue the young Pastor a warning. What would Jesus do? Follow Jesus to the letter with regard to "forgiveness".
    Stay Blessed,

MY PREVIOUS COMMENT CONCERNING THE YOUNG PASTOR BEING RELEASED/FIRED FROM MINISTRY I HAVE CONCLUDEDTHIS WAS APPROVED BY GOD. BELIEVERS/CHRISTIANS EVERY WHERE TAKE NOTE THE INTERNET HAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF INFORMATION ON EVERYBODY. DO YOU KNOW WHO RICK ROSS IS AND WHAT HE STANDS FOR? I WENT TO YOUTUBE TO SEARCH FURTHER SO AS ANY STATMENT I WOULD MAKE WOULD BE PLEASING TO GOD AND THE HEARERS. 1 RAP SONG CALLED HUSTLIN LISTEN TO IT ANOTHER ONE CALLED PUST IT SONGS WITH MASSIVE OF MONEY ,DEALING WITH DRUGS, MANY WOMEN WITH VERY SKIMPY CLOTHING/SEX APPEAL AND LOTS OF YOUNG MEN WHO DOES NOT APPEAR CHRISTLIKE. RICK ROSS SAYS HE IS SELF-MADE MONEY,WOMEN, HE IS PRAISING HIMSELF. SAINTS WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSE HIS SOUL. MARK 8;36 MATTHEW 18;VERSES 15-17 GIVES SPECIFICALLY PRACTICAL STEPS FOR CONFRONTING AND CORRECTING A WAYWARD BELIEVER/CHRISTIAN ,ELDER,PASTOR,DEACON ETC GALATIONS 6;1 ROMANS16 VERSE17; JAMES 5;19-20 HEBREW12;11, 13;17 1CORINTHIANS 5;1-13 2 THESS3;3-7 THERE IS MORE. A RICK ROSS CONCERT IS NOT GODLY SO IT IS A SIN TO ATTEND OR PROMOTE. DO YOU WANT TO SEE THIS YOUNG MAN DESTROYED, DO YOU WANT YOUR PASTOR TO BE ENTICED BY UNGODLY MEANS? THE SCRIPTURE SAYS SO A MAN THINKETH SO IS HE. THE RAPPING DRUGS,MONEY,WOMEN,AND PERSONALITY WILL CONTAMINATE THIS YOUNG PASTOR. BE REAL ABOUT IT WHEN SOMETHING DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT GO TO THE WORD OF GOD AND SEE WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT IT. DO NOT TAKE FROM THE WORD OF GOD OR YOU WILL BE DISCIPLINED BY GOD HIMSELF. ALL WHO THINK THIS BEHAVIOR IS OK I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THE SCRIPTURES/GOD BELIEVE WHAT HE SAYS YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG. DO NOT LEAN TO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING WE NEED GOD EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. WE LOVE THE YOUNG PASTOR, THOSE WHO DISCIPLINE HIM AND ALSO YOU THE READER AND HEARER OF THIS MESSAGE SENT FROM GOD THROUGH ME, ONLY A VESSEL USED BY GOD.

  • Johnnie - 11 years ago

It really depends on what his intentions where in going to the concert.

If he went to evangelize and serve as a light into the world (and if you have been to/drove by a concert recently, you know what a blessing a street evangelist can be), I see no problem with this as pastors are to “preach the word…reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2)

If we went to enjoy himself, I would not be willing to follow him. The music of Rick Ross is in direct conflict with Jesus.

Deacons are responsible for the business and logistics of the church. Depending on the denomination (Baptist here) they are appointed to do such things as remove Pastors.

Again, this story leaves out what his purposes for being there. Those passing judgement on either the pastor OR the church itself are really doing nothing but creating uproar with any facts. This is why the church universal is dying.

  • trina - 11 years ago

Its sad how the many have deceased standards values and morals of God in order to fit their lifestyle....Be ye holy means just that...set apart..set apart from what??? Anything not like God...yall know that so stop compromising and live what u preach PERIOD!!!

MY HEART GOES OUT TO THIS YOUNG PASTOR. DEDICATION TO THE GOSPEL OUR LORD JESUS THE CHRIST IS SERIOUS. A YOUNG PASTOR WHO ALLOWS HIMSELF TO ATTEND CONCERTS OF THAT MAGNITUDE IS BEING SET UP FOR THE DEVIL TO DECEIVE HIM AND USE HIM FOR THE DEVILS BENEFIT NOT GOD. PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOT GOD IS EVERY WHERE, FAMILY, FRIENDS,WORK,GROCERY STORES,MALLS,DRY CLEANERS,BANKS,HOSPITALS,NURSING HOMES,RESIDENCES IN NEIGHBORHOODS,FAST FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS,CAR WASHES, AND THE LIST GOES ON. CHRISTIANS DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND THAT KIND OF CONCERT TO REACH THE LOST. BE REAL THAT ENVIRONMENT IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY HOW ARE YOU GOING TO TELL SOME BODY ABOUT JESUS DURING THE PERFORMANCE? YOU WILL RECEIVE MANY DIVERSE OPINIONS, CHRISTIAN WHO REALLY UNDERSTAND THE BASIC PRINCIPALS OF GOD WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, CARNAL CHRISTIANS WHO WANT TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO WILL AGREE IT IS OK AND THE MASSIVE OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT YET EXCEPTED JESUS WILL ALWAYS GO AGAINST THE TRUE WORDS OF GOD. GOD SAYS DO NOT ADD TO NOR TAKE AWAY THE WORDS SPOKEN OR YOU WILL EXPERIANCE CONSEQUENCES. REMEMBER ADAM AND EVE GOD SAYS, DO NOT EAT OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL OR YOU WILL SURELY DIE. SAYS GOD BUT EVERY OTHER BEARING TREE YOU CAN EAT OF. THEY BOTH DISOBEYED GOD AND THE CONSEQUENCES WAS REMOVAL FROM THE GARDEN OF EDEN, THE MAN'S PUNISHMENT CURSED BE THE GROUND,HARD LABOR, FOR THE WOMAN INFENSIFY PAIN IN CHILDBEARING AND THE MAN WILL RULE OVER HER GENESIS CHAPTER 3 READ THE FALL OF ADAM THE MAN AND HIS WIFE EVE.GOD HAS ALREADY JUDGED THIS MATTER THROUGH HIS WORD HE HAS INSTRUCTED THOSE WHO ARE SPIRITUAL IN LEADERSHIP DEACONS, ELDERS ETC HAS TO BRING THE MATTER FIRST TO THE YOUNG PASTOR AND IF HE DOES NOT LISTEN THEY HAVE GOD'S APPROVAL TO REMOVE HIM BUT NOT JUST REMOVE HIM PRAY FOR HIM TO BE RESTORE IF HIS HEART HAS TURNED BACK TO GOD. THE YOUNG PASTOR NEEDS TIME OFF TO RE-EVALUATE HIS POSITION IF HE IS CALLED BY GOD. WE ARE NOT TO THROW AWAY GOD'S PEOPLE BUT TO HELP THEM WHEN THEY DISOBEY GOD. THE SAME IS IN THE NATURAL THE SAME IS IN THE SPIRITUAL. WHEN A CHILD DISOBEY THEIR PARENTS THE PARENT DISIPLINES ACCORDING TO THE BAD BEHAVIOR. THE PARENT DOES NOT HAVE TO ASK ANY ONE ABOUT HANDLING THEIR CHILD'S BEHAVIOR BUT IN ALL TO DO IT WHERE THE CHILD UNDERSTAND THE DISCIPLINE GIVEN AND IN HOPES IT WILL CORRECT THE BAD BEHAVIOR THE CHURCH IS ORDAINED BY GOD TO ALSO DISCIPLINE BELIEVERS AS NEEDED YOUNG AND OLD. THEY ARE GOD'S REPRESENTATIVES. LOVE IS USED FOR DISCIPLINE WE NEED. I PRAY THAT THIS YOUNG PASTOR WILL ADHERE TO THE WORD OF GOD AND JUDGE HIMSELF HIS ACTIONS RIGHT OR WRONG SO HE WILL NOT HAVE TO BE JUDGED. GOD IS THE ULTIMATE JUDGE. THE ANSWER THE YOUNG PASTOR SHOULD NOT ATTEND ANT CONCERT OF THIS MAGNITUDE WITH BAD LANGUAGE AND WORDS THAT DO NOT EDIFY. MEN AND WOMEN ARE MADE IN THE LIKENESS OF GOD WOULD YOU CALL GOD A B WORD OR USE OTHER WORDS OF THE LANGUAGE F,N,W AND I HEAR THE WORDS GO ON AND ON. THIS IS NOT EXCEPTABLE. REMEMBER SOME ONE MIGHT CALL YOUR MOTHER, FATHER, SISTER,BROTHER AUNT, UNCLE, FRIEND, OR YOUR DAUGHTER, OR SON ONE.ETC BE REAL PEOPLE ALL CHRISTIANS WE NEED TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD. THE WORLD IS WATCHING US. THE CONCERT DOES NOT GLORIFY GOD.

It tears my heart strings to hear this. While I am 58 years old, I have children who are 20, 21 and 23. I have been married 24 years. Neither my husband nor I have entered into sainthood. In fact, just last week, I was pleased to witness to several people of things I did before I was saved. But to dismiss a young, able-bodied pastor for attending a worldly concert is to coin a worldly name Ludacris!

In my Bible, Mark 16:15 says "Go into all the world and preach," not all the Christian homes and churches and gatherings. Man plans his day, but God alone orders his steps. Luke 14:23, Jesus told a story about a feast that was set for the saints of God, but they were busy, lazy or just chose to take (God) or the affair for granted and didn't show up. So God (or the head waiter) said, "Go out into the road and compel men and women to come in."

In my own church that happens to be called New Salem and is nothing like Rev James P. Meeks progressive Salem Church in Chicago, an assistant pastor was chided for seemingly being asleep. He said, "He was praying." Okay, so what. He is in the ark of safety. Jesus slept while the winds raged around the disciples. He wasn't too happy to be awakened either. People have sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and take other meds. That does not mean they are disrespecting God. Maybe the pastor if he is boring. I've heard my own pastor say, "You can't worship with your eyes closed." I'm sorry, but you can. Blind people, of which we have one, do it every day. This statement is an insult to God and an affront to all sick and challenged.

We need young pastors who can reach youth. They are watching us and they are the ones who need God most right now. I recall at Canaan Church in Chicago, three boys ran thru the hall. A member chastened them. But an elderly deacon said, "No. Let them run up and down the aisles. They're in here and this is where we want them to be." Chuch Folks, to coin a phrase from author/childhood friend/neighbor Michelle Bowen, need to open the Bible and really read what went on there and why Jesus coming caused such a stir among the status quo.

I witnessed recently that one of St Louis' most successful pastors suffered a near-fatal heart attack and needed prayer. Rev Earl Nance, Jr, member of the STLPS Board, Heat UP/Cool Down St Louis, and countless other charities was down-sizing his home, moving into a condo and giving away all he owned to simplify his life. My brother was in charge of hauling it all away. In essence he was doing what it said in Luke 18:22, to sell all you have and give to the poor. Before I could finish my testimony that this man gave me many things that had burned up in my 2007 housefire and i was eternally gratefu, I heard my own pastor infer that my testimony was taking too long. He did the same to a woman who stood up after me.

Jesus said "Beware of the leaven, of the Phariseas and the Saducees" which is hypocrisy. I will never say that I am a prophet or a saint. Other people have said it for me. But anyway He blesses me, I will praise Him. Among the things I got from Rev Nance's collections that I most cherished was his music. Mine were irreplaceable and burned in the fire. Of course, he had Rev James Cleveland, Cleophus Robinson, and hundreds of other gospel artists. But the ones I cherished most were his rock, R&B, and jazz music. Among them was an all-time favorite Al Jarreau "Take Five" Live. Signed to Earl from Al Jarreau! Guess that was one concert he didn't miss either. God bless Rev Nance and keep him in prayer.

We say we don't judge, but it is judging. If God say to forgive your brother 70 times 70 in one day he saying there are going to be times we make a choice every one is not going to agree with. God look at your heart not your action. This pastor did not comment a sin, just like takeing a sip of wine is not. Some church folk need to get out to see what there youth are in to so they can know where to meet them. Yes he has a leadership, but he can still stand out. It doesn't take some one to go out and speak the word all the time, sometimes it's how you handle yourself. Didn't Jesus say those with out sin cast the first stone. If a pimp come to church and pay his tithes and offering would you stop him?Noah was an alcoholic when God spoke to him of the arc. He could have choose some else. When God give a gift and it's not used he doesn't take it back. He allow you to use it when and if you choose to use it.

who these deacons think they are. A Pastor is appointed and set in the church by Jesus Christ. Not deacons..
Jesus is the only one who can remove a pastor from office. We have forgotten what Jesus said:

HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN, LET HIM CAST THE FIRST STONE. DEACONS.....!

GOD WILL DEAL WITH THEM AND THEY WILL BE REMOVED ALSO....!

  • Vicki McAl - 11 years ago

I have been judge also on a comment i made on my Facebook page pertaining to a old song i like back in the day. I was judged by a preachers wife. Her responce to wht i posted was "If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart you shall be saved." My responce was "Music don't make me." Mind you if i was a babe in Christ this would have made me backslide ...God didn't have a sertin kind of people He witness to. Look at Peter for instince he was a swearer , went to prison.."BUT GOD"...When our brother are sister falls lets reach down and pick them up. That's wht God require use to do...God Bless and keep you is my prayer...

  • Onethia - 11 years ago

My thought on this matter is we as Christian have to be self conscious of our actions because we don't need to cause anyone else to fall or run away because of our decisions. I leave a Word to the Pastor to be encouraged and use this experience as a learning experience and eventually thank the Deacons for the decision that they made because you were walking on a very shaky ground. Now to be honest with you the devil was trying to destroy you but Jesus is here so remember that you can just repent and continue to lead as the spirit lead you and you may not be at the same church you were pastoring at but as you desire to do the work of the Lord He will place you where you need to be but please listen to the Holy Spirit because I know your conscious should have alarmed you of the freshly decision you were about to make. But as I said be encouraged and Saints of God you should be praying for this young man because He is our future and the devil is out to destroy our leaders and WE NEED TO continue loving them in their not so perfect decision making and KEEP THEM LIFTED UP IN PRAYER.........BLESS GOD. Please pay close attention.

I just want to say that being a minister I am always charged to walk circumspectly. The Bible also says that he who wins souls is wise. One thing is for certain, as believers we must be sure that our motives are pure when we are operating. We have to make sure that we don't become a stumbling block to weaker or newer Christians. Now I've seen churches set up a station during events such as Mardi Gras parades preaching Jesus. I guess my question would be to the pastor was his being at a Rick Ross and Lil Wayne concert a ministry move or a flesh move?

  • Patri - 11 years ago

When are going to stop making excuses. The pastor is the head of his congregation what makes him precious than the children of Israel. He got to remember that the blood would be on his hands if he cause one of God lest one to return back to their old ways. As saints if we dont make a change then the sinners would have their mind set, Well if the preacher not giving up things to put his flesh under subjection I dont have to do that neither. Lets make a stand saints. I agree with the board.

  • Valerie Ruffin - 11 years ago

A person can attend any concert they desire. That does not change who they are or their beliefs in the Lord. The Deacons and church will be judged by a higher authority. He will take care of this situation. That Pastor has greater things ahead of him.

  • Kenney M - 11 years ago

Interesting...this doesn't seem like its about him attending a concert. To me it appears to be about him being the youngest pastor in the churches history amongst a Deacon board of elders. If that's the case this is jealousy and envy at work. Why hold the meeting in secret? Why not confront the pastor before you allowed him to come to preach and have asked a local preacher to take his place? That is deception. I am not a "religious" person but I have read and studied from the bible..Jesus ministered in many "unclean" places which scared those who thought they were above him. Some of your comments make some of you appear to be self righteous. You idolize people and so you believe they should be held to a higher standard of life and living therefore removing them from humanity..no pastor, preacher, rabbi or other HUMAN person can be removed from such a condition. I wonder if anyone ever asked him why he attended any of those concerts. What if rappers seek counsel? I think folks should step down off of their personal pedestals and stop putting others on them. If you believe in the Bible and God as some of you preach you should know better but apparently....

  • T. Allen Stringer - 11 years ago

Your poll is slanted. It doesn't leave room for a fair outcome. But I'm not surprised. As a Pastor you make a commitment to live a certain lifestyle which is based upon the Bible. If you sin, then you work to get your life back in line with your commitment. In the Old Testament G-d says, "That I will give you Pastors after my own heart,"
Somehow I can't see G-d cheering and jumping up and down while the guy on stage is grabbing his crouch and yelling, F this and this B and Nig...r and S... and hoe and MF ...er and kiss my a... and she gave me Brain..and I grabbed her a....and we did that all night long. ..and I took your women... Then show up at Church ready to preach, BE YE HOLY, LOVE NOT THE WORLD, BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH! If the Deacons gave him a chance to abide by the commitment he made when installed as a Pastor and he refused to comply.. What would your boss to you?

  • Wanda - 11 years ago

Its not a sin to go anywhere in this world, however the elders are suppose to guide and direct this young pastor. Is any one sin bigger than the other...........look at all the pastors that has fallen and did things that were far worst then attending a concert. For example Eddie Long, liar, cheater, molester--can it get any worst. Plus hes still in the pulpit and I'm sure being supported by many behind the scene pastors. We shouldnt even be commenting on this young pastor instead turning his behavior to attend rap concerts to attending gospel concerts. I pray for this young man because there are things much worst that he could have done--God vision is far greater than we could ever imagine, and I just believe Bro Willis is going to be alright!

  • Theresa - 11 years ago

Them deacons need to "Get A Life". and which one of them would like to cast the first stone?

  • Gabriel Nife - 11 years ago

It depends. In a way, I don't think it was wrong for him to be fired. This is not about condemnation. This has not sounded like condemnation to me. It is about responsibility. The truth is to whom much is given much is expected. Paul the Apostle said all things are lawful but he refused to be brought under the power of any.
Another thing is it depends on what the Pastor went to do there. If it is for the purpose of ministering, well.

  • TIMA - 11 years ago

You Americans are very funny. I wonder which bible you pple read. the bible clearly indicates Darkness cannot mix with light. how can a pastor attend a secular concert and come and preach. how then will he talk about sin if he himself is not right with God. God has given us a choice it either your choose life or death. and he himself offers us life in abundance, Why do you compromise? the minute that pastor decided to attend that concert he exalted the Flesh. Sin is Sin there is no shortcut about it. the pastor did a wrong thing and its not that we are judging him but he did not go there to spread the gospel we are called to be True disciples of Jesus Christ. He went there to have fun and enjoy himself.LETS CALL A SPADE A SPADE NOT A SPOON.
AMERICANS STOP MISLEADING PEOPLE THERE IS NOT SHORT CUT IN THE WORD OF GOD.

  • VERLIE - 11 years ago

FIRST OF ALL WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE FOR JUDGING THAT PASTOR .JUDGING HIS CHARACTOR IS NOT UP TO THEM THAT IS UP TO GOD.CHRISTIANS PEOPLE ALWAY FORGET GET WHERE THEY COME FROM AND THE THINGS THAT THEY DID OR STILL DOING WHEN WE SIN AND FALL SHORT OF GOD GLORY DONT HE FORGIVE U FOR YOUR SINS BEING A TRUE CHRISTIAN IS TO FORGIVE AND PRAY FOR THAT PERSON NOT TO CONDEMN HIM. ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION: HOW MANY TIMES DID GOD FORGIVE U? HOW MUCH DO GOD LOVE U WHEN U FALL SHORT? CHRISTIANS SHOULD ALWAYS LIFT SOMEONE UP NOT BREAK THEM DOWN TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF BECAUSE U JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE.

  • Tee - 11 years ago

I feel God ordained u with a leadership position, and that the position u need to keep, when it comes to God it's not a sometime thing? Yes we all fall short at some point and he does no our heart and place as such is not of God. If u can't fill the position them step down and let a true soldier for God step in...

  • orian tiffany moore freeman - 11 years ago

Well I'm a musician and I love music. However the love I have for Jesus Christ outweighs the love I have for music. In reference to the comment it shows where the heart was of this young man, and your church or anywhere else in this world is only good as your leader. So it shows the concern he had for the people and how self-centered he was. Like did he even consider what if I ran into one of my members who's maybe not in the faith as he is or as strong as others and feel that it's O.K to party and serve God. This makes you even wonder about his faith in saying so. All of us have faults, but everybody is not qualified to be in leadership positions until we get ministered to. Obviously he still had the world in his heart, and I say this as being a converted Chritian who was a drug-dealer, gangbanger, drug-user,whoremonger etc. even attended Rick Ross concerts myself and I know what goes on in those concerts and it's nothing Godly about it. At a Rick Ross concert the spirits(demonic forces) are so strong, you can't go in there and witness to anyone without getting pulled in yourself. If you're saved foreal you understand that God gives us oppurtunities daily to go out and witness to the world, and He is so wise not to put us in positions where our salvation or our purpose to be jeopardized. The bible says He'll make a way of escape in the time of temtaion, so I lot of the things we cause on our self by making unwise decisions and walking in the flesh not taking heed to the spirit.

  • Elder Johnathan Hester - 11 years ago

A Christian can go pretty much where they want to because it isn't the "place" that is important, it's what is going on in their "heart" that matters.

For instance, the Lord Jesus was said to be a friend of tax collectors and sinners but His motivation was to call people to repentance.

Luke 5:30 And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?" 31 Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Christians are called to be ambassadors for Christ. So while a Christian can enjoy a dance club or a concert, they should act like a Christian wherever they are and not like an unsaved sinner. It shouldn't be that a Christian goes to a concert or a dance club so that they can "get away from all of those church people" and act like their old unsaved self.

1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

  • Zina P. - 11 years ago

Judge not that ye be judged.... You without sin cast the first stone... I guess all of the deacons were never young nor committed any sins HMMM.... wow I guess he couldn't evangelize at the concert huh??? Are any of the deacons doing an Outreach Ministry or is your church reserved only for the already Holy and Sanctified People who have never committed any wrong? Pews must be empty, surely I couldn't attend that church. Who is left to reach the broke and down-trodden to bring them to the hospital (church) for healing, Oh well Im just saying, christians check yoself before you wreck yourselves before the throne of God.

  • julia compton - 11 years ago

I feel as though its his god given right to attend any concert he chosses,as long as hes preaching the word of god and helping someone through there struggles, makes a difference...who are you to judge him,Amen god bless the ones who voted him out... who said you were perfect.

Sometimes GOD'S will is for you to get fired from one position because he has a better one set up for you So Rev Rodney Willis, Thank them for the opportunity & get ready for movement that GOD has for your life!!! AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD

  • jeanette - 11 years ago

I want my Pastor to be in prayer looking for the next manna from heaven.
However, we must take a stand on sanctification. To be sanctified it means to be cleanse from unrighteousness. The bible said, Let not your good be evil spoken. Let your light shine before men.
Pastors must lead a example for the people.

  • wanda - 11 years ago

i think yall did the right thing for you can not serve two masters bottom line. how can you preach to the people about the world and how to turn from the world and then turn around and do just the opposite. yes he can go to any concert he wants to thats his business but if he wasnt ready to truly serve God then he shouldnt have accepted the position as pastor. the lord said we will know them by the fruit that they bare. im sure many people will be upset by this but it dont surprise me because only a true man and woman of God would understand what the church did. how can you win someone to the lord when you walking with the enemy. how do you think the young people are going to take you serious when you talk to them about salvation when you at the concert jamming harder than they are. bottom line i think the pastor need to pray and let God lead him as to what to do next in his life because sooner or later in any situation whats done in the dark will come to the light. i applaud the church for standing up and doing what was right even though it may not have been the most popular position to take. men and women of God have got to stand up and do what is right regardless of what people think.

  • Sonny - 11 years ago

The bible say you cant served two GOD....plain and simple...that pastor didn't think about the young generation are coming up if they see the pastor listen to raps with cussing words and half naked girls freaking on dance floor and affiliate with worldly function they will follow his foot step and that's not good at all. bad example for the future generation. Pray for Pastor

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT FIRING A YOUNG MAN, A PASTOR FOR GOING TO A RICK ROSS CONCERT IS SO JUDGEMENTAL. THOSE WHO JUDGE DONT MATTER AND THOSE WHO MATTER DONT JUDGE. JESUS SPENT TIME WITH A PROSTITUTE, ALSO GOD SAYS COME AS YOU ARE.,WE GO TO GOD TO GET RIGHT NOT GET RIGHT AND GO TO GOD. TO MANY PEOPLE ARE TO SCARED TO GO INTO THE WORLD I WAS TAUGHT TO ALWAYS WEAR THE AMOR OF GOD. ALL THE DISCIPLES WERE SINNERS WERE THEY NOT?

@FREE - You said, "Why attend church if you still have the world in you?" So, are you suggesting that only those who don't still have the world in them should be in church. What does that even mean anyway? If those you speak of reserve the right to remain in church, perhaps we all should stop attending. Some Christians, particularly who have been saved for a while, tend to forget the local church is a hospital for the sick, not a museum for saints. I don't know what church you attend, but i'm thanking the Lord that I'm not a member there. The reality is none of us are without sin. We all fall short of the glory of God, including you. I'm not suggesting one way or another how the church should have handled that situation. What will say, though, is the pastor openly attended that concert. I'm sure he knew he'd likely been seen by some of the ministry's youth. Should the youth be put out of the church? After all, they were there just like the pastor. Which one do you think the Lord is sees as worse--what the pastor did OPENLY, or what others in the congregation SECRETLY? Should those who tune in to Scandal on whatever day it airs should also be put out of the church? I'm just asking... We have got stop judging folk to condemnation. That is a very dangerous place to be in.

It is absolutely STUPID to ask " Where is it in the Bible a Pastor can't listen to rap? Ding, ding ,ding...Rap was not out in those times; GET A CLUE AND READ THE BIBLE! The word of God says DO NOT CONFORM TO THIS WORLD BUT BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOU MIND! DUH! The upside to this mess is that we are not God so only God know the intent of his heart and mind. However, you CANNOT call yourself a Pastor and have the mentality of "Do as I say, not as I do". Set the example God has called you for, that's "IF" you were called by God and not man. Many, Many Pastors are called by people who places them on a pedistal. No one is perfect in this word but Christ. Lastly people, read the entire Bible, not just what you think is contradictory. Christ came NOT to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved. Read and study what's right and wrong, some things are common sense. For example Gays...It's wrong thus sayeth the Lord, Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1 1-32 and you look up the rest. Don't get it twisted to cover your wrong. Peace!

When you are at a spiritual level such as a Pastor, there are things you just shouldn't do. Yes we have freedom in Christ but we don't have to walk in those freedoms all the time. By walking in his freedom, he could have caused a newly saved person to fall because they do not understand. What is so different about Christians if they can do everything a unsaved person could do? He is held to a higher standard, a standard he might have not been ready for.

I Believe that if you are a man of God it is a certain way you should carry yourself. Have anyone known Jesus to attend a concert. Why would God send a Preacher to a Rick Ross concert to get a message maybe they shouldn't have fired him but just explained that it is certain ways you are to conduct yourself being a Pastor of our church. So many people are quick to put the church down and not read the Bible and get an understanding. The Pastor is only 26 years old he still young maybe he was taking on the Pastor roll in order to not get a job. The next time do like a lot of these jobs do they thoroughly check your back-ground

This actions are the same as those who voted to outs Jesus many years ago. Only he knows his intentions and ill will or not. Jesus walked with a whore, turned water to wine... while many Christians condemn drinking and Lord forbid hanging out with a Rapper. lol.

Something about the man compelled them to elect him in. Moreover, it shows their judgements are emotional biased. If they had done proper research... they may have known the caliber of man they began to follow.

Who are we to say he was right or wrong? Let God be the judge, not us. I can say this, we as a people of God have no particular place to witness whether it be a juke joint or otherwise. ijs

A man of God went to a concert, got up the next morning and went to church to preach. The Lord could have "lead" him to the concert to receive a message to be delivered to his congregation. Pastors receive their sermons from interacting with "all" walks of life, a rap concert included. Rules conjured up by a power hungry "church board" should not mandate how the pastor receives the word. He didn't break any commandment. Just sayin.

Hello i don't have an opinon but i would like to say where is it in the Bible tat going to a rap concert is a sin? I understand where you guys are coming from but my question is what are you guys watching on tv? Not being judgmental but we are so quick to judge the mot in our brothers eye and havea bean pole in our eye? The staff hired him yall should have asked him what kind of music his listen too or checked his back round , not to say he was wrong for going to a concert. When you were a young adult christian did you ever go to a concert? im sure you did , did uou lose your salvation because you went to a concert? no you did not , i understand your point i really do but you went buy it the wrong way i mean wow! to let him gow for going to a concert is weird! he might be a growing pastor because he is a pastor don't mean he is not there yet maybe yall should have set down and talk with him first and instead of letting him go , why question is would Jesus had fired him? thats something you have to think about because we are not christians by what we do we are Christians because of what Jesus done on the cross. God blessyou

Has any thought that the pastor may be doing work from God. We are supposed to meet people at their point of need. Staying inside the church doesn't guarantee that the pastor will ever be able to give the word of God to that audience. You have to go to the places that the unsaved go to minister to them. The problem isn't that he goes to these concerts. The problem would come if the pastor is going for a worldly purpose. If God ordains it, who are we to say anything against Gods will and his ways. The word says that our ways are not Gods ways. It's sad but church people are still trying to live on tradition instead of standing on Gods word. SHAME!

Thats whats so wrong with our world today.so many people are so judgemental.ive never seen anywhere in the holy bible that saids a pastor cannot attend a concert.many people cant live there own lives from worrying bout other folks and what theyre doin.when your own door steps probably needs a lil cleaning up.people tend to misconcieve christianity and take it all out of context.....i dont see anything wrong with the pastor goin to Rick Ross concert.you never know just how many folks the pastor may have came in touch with.and he may have really touched them, couldve made a difference in their lives.and for those deacons that met at church 11pm to vote the paster out you'll shouldve been home on your knees praying and asking God To Forgive You For Your Sins.....cause im sure each one of you sin everyday.and at least one of you probably look at a woman everyday thinking of her in some kind of way.and that is A SIN.....CALLED LUSTING.so for what you'll have done trying to ruin the life, career and his Holy Name.May God Bless U cause you have to live that.

  • RanSom - 11 years ago

Even if he didnt go to that concert...they prob would have found something...instead of more guidance...they are pushing him into the world...that they consider to be corrupt...well I guess if they investigate each and every member...the church itself would be empty ....just saying

I don't think nothing is wrong with that .. you dont know what he had for Sunday morning about that he went to see it his self .. I feel lik3 if the man of god which he still is just because he went to see rick ross is not a problem whats the problem is yall so call church people judging him and your not God yall need to get your act together and give him back his job

WHY ATTEND CHURCH, IF U STILL HAVE THE-WORLD IN YOU , YOU CAN NOT SERVE TWO MASTER! POINT BLANK, THAT'S WHY SO MANY CHURCHES R LOST THEN THE SHEEP GET LOST, THE CHURCH WAS RIGHT. SIT HIS BUT DOWN TILL HE IS REALLY READY. T ILL THEN ENJOY YOUR YOUTH AND DO THOSE THINGS YOU LIKE.

  • I believe that is why we as missionary baptist churches we are able to govern our church houses as we see fit. I think that if the Pastor already knew how the board of deacons felt about him attending concerts mabe he should have not gone. However the bible says "He who is without sin cast the first stone" So let your bible and your conscience be your guide.

Who are we to put rules of the spirit of God. He went to a concert he didn't cheat on his wife, denounce the cross or lie on the pulpit like so many pastors who are still heading their churches do. He is a young man and these people are restricting his ministry by binding him to man made rules and regulations. Pray for the church

How on earth do you think that they can reach unsaved people without them going out to the people regardless of where it may be. You can help them by just hiding yourself with just saved people you must go out and get the word out to these unsaved people.
