Should Congress support or oppose President Obama's request for a U.S. military response to Syria's use of chemical weapons on its citizens?

Well personally. Assad broke an international law. Used chemical weapons and killed women and children. Personally I do not like Obama however I support his strike on Syria. Simply because a major law was broken and women and children were killed. But with the women and children aside. The arsonal that the country has available to them should pose a national security risk in itself. Inside reports and eye witnesses have stated that mustard gas (mustard blistering agents), deadly nerve gases like Sarin, Tabun and VX. And are able to carry out attacks using air to air, surface to air, and aerial bombs. Also have several hundred Scuds models A,B,C and also SS-21 Missiles. There reach with missiles is only around 1000 miles however there aircraft have a much wider range and could potentially reach the US if they require them to do so. Syria has also been working on a nuclear program which has not been finished as the reports have stated however there are photos of the reactor vessel and the head and fuel channels for the reactor. There is a load that Syria has been trying to hide. With the international laws that have been broken and what they have available to them, We should strike while we have the means to do so.

Plain and simple we need to send a message that these types of weapons and attacks, even in their own country will not be tolerated. If international laws are broken and the US and other countries are in danger that we will not let this happen. We will eliminate any threat that shows itself as a National Security risk in our country or any country in the world. If we do not we will see more and more of these types of attacks and open the door to other international laws being broken.

We need to strike to send that message to the world. We are a super power and we need to stay that way. No ground troops, only a full on aerial assault.

Do you think if I were to produce Sarin here in the US or any other chemical weapon that I would be simply slapped on the back of the hand. I would be punished. As so Assad.

What al Asad has done to his people is disgusting & immoral & unacceptable to normal ,sane people. At first I agreed with Pres. Obama, but on further thought I just cannot condone the possibilityof killing more of our men & women in a conflict . I feel we should stay out of Syria's problems. Let the UN do the job they are supposed to do.
