The way you talk about him proves you don't have a clue of what kind of person he was, and proves you havent seen Glee. He had amazing talent and he was one of the best people ever. The way he died is just a result of 19 years of addiction, nothing to do with being famous ir a actor. Once he became addicted, It was a disease, and before dying, he had been going to rehab for several months, beacuse he was trying hard to quit it. You say you don't want him as a role model for your kids? Well, I do. If you get a little bit of information, you Will find out that he was one of the nicest, funniest and humblest people ever, you shouldnt judge him just because of the way he died.

The new generation wants to give/receive awards for mediocrity. I don't understand the hype of ANY of these awards shows...it seems to me there are so many other important things to focus our attention on, but we now live in a dumbed down society-most people care more about the latest Kardashian baby than what's going on in Syria or Kenya or other troubled area of the world.
I did enjoy shows that included the other actors/directors-but there's no way 1 successful show makes anyone worthy of an Emmy Tribute.
AND...Not every actor who dies is worthy of recognition.
Corey Monteith was just getting started being an actor& while it's too bad he died too young-he made bad choices and had not achieved greatness as the other memoriam tribute recipients did.

Three veteran actors -- Jack Klugman, Larry Hagman, & Charles Durning -- are far more deserving of a special tribute. They EARNED it.

Cory Monteith might worth mentioning for the group memorial -- but no special tributes for a no-talent, junkie.

It is absolutely disgraceful to honor him! He was a drug addict and HE KILLED HIMSELF!!!! He is the last person on Earth I would ever want my kids thinking was a cool guy, a smart guy, or even talented for that matter. He clearly was sick in the head and what we should be doing is talking to our kids about what a poor choice he made, NOT HONORING HIM AT THE EMMYS!!!!!!! My family will certainly not be watching.

This is a disgrace to the Emmys. I wont be watching.

As one whose family has been touched and much grieved by a drug related death, I must conclude that while this young man's potential has been lost, his achievement was not attained. The award is sadly not appropriate.

When you look at the body of his work there simply isn't that much there to deserve an Emmy. It's too bad that he killed himself by abusing drugs as he may have had a promising career in his future but he destroyed that before it really happened. This is a NO. I also agree with many of the posters here that think that there has been way too much glorifying of the drug culture already. It's taking its toll in the industry and in the general population. No tribute, no mention, no award - no reward for throwing away a life.

Another out of control actor, dying of a drug and alcohol overdose. The media, in their frenzy want to glorify drug use and bemoan the fact the world is not fair. Instead of helping these pathetic human beings, they in fact, belittle their plights. They have no respect for the individual, they only want to reveal the nasty side of everything. No tribute to this person.

Leaving aside the fact that he died of a drug overdose, what exactly has he accomplished in his career to deserve a special Emmy Tribute? He was on a TV show. That's it. There are other more distingushed actors or actresses that passed last year that deserve the special tribure.

Once again, we have a young star (or any star for that matter) that has died of a drug overdose and the media world wants to glorify it, sensationlize it, memorialize it, whatever you want to call it. Why is it that durg overdose deaths are glorified in the media? After all these years, Belushi & Farley & Cobain & Anna Nicole are still being sensationalized for being drug addicts? Do you not see anything wrong with this picture? No wonder we have younsters in this world doing drugs. They think they are AWESOME when they do. I don't care what Monteith did on screen. He should not receive recognition because of who he was off screen. If you want to memorialize what could have been then make it a public service announcement for DARE and other anti-drug programs! This just makes me sick.
