Absolutely, there are some books where borrowing is especially favored. If you were going to build a birdhouse, you could probably learn how to do it (at least one way) while going through a book once...you wouldn't feel like you need to refer to it again a year later.
You can search within the Kindle store, using a Paperhwite (for example). That is, I would guess, severely under-utilized as a research tool.

There are lots of books I can't comfortably afford, especially scholarly ones. I would love to own versions of these, but if not borrowing them would be great.
There are also loads of books/articles I need once but don't really care about - ones for research, like looking up things on google. Amazon is really pretty bad for these, but there are some initiatives which have started renting these like DeepDyve.
