Although it may have been rude to laugh at the contestant, the young man also acted too emotional and would not listen. When Donnie McClurkin tried to explain and talk to the contestant, the contestant talked over him and continued his rant becoming rude himself and demonstrating his own immaturity.

I stopped watching this show last year because of the rudeness of Kim, Donnie, and Yolanda. I wanted to support the show because of it being a gospel show. However, the only judge that was giving any encouragement to the singers was CeCe Winans. Just like these contestants, these judges had to start somewhere in there careers. Yes, it may be a competition and some of the singers may not be that good, but to cut them down and be rude in their remarks, is uncalled for. This is not American Idol. I heard about this episode, which confirmed my decision not to ever watch this show again. My blessings to all of the contestants and I pray that this contestants' speaking up will help to get rid of these three judges.

How we forget were we come from when we think we are on top of the world!! Someone reached down an picked you up to help you succeed. Instead of laughing you should be offer up to him words of encouragement. I am so glad God don't judge by the sound of ones voice, but that it comes from the heart. Instead of Sundays Best maybe you should have a show for transforming voices because Sundays best is not what you are doing it's humiliating others. God wouldn't do that he would teach and train that voice until he receives the glory. Who would you really be if God took away your talent!!! Like a ship without a sail. Lost wishing someone would find you an help you along the way. Hope you got the correct message. Are you really doing this for Gods glory or the fame an love for money!!!

He is an amateur performing in front of professionals. Moreso than most they should be more aware and sensitiive to the high degree of effort this young man was exerting.during his audition. He explained he was there at great personal sacrifice which shows dedication and seriousness nature to what he was there for. I agree it was rude and disrespectful to laugh during his rendition and the contestant deserved an apology not further humiliation by turning the injury back on him.

mcclurkin and burrell WERE VERY DISRESPECTFUL! They displayed TYPICAL "CHURCH FOLK" IGNORANCE! I don't care if you had already made your decision. "Seasoned" INTELLIGENT, RESPECTFUL, "CHRIST-LIKE" individuals would NOT have been giggling and laughing like STUPID children while another judge was speaking to a contestant. TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL WITHOUT HESITATION!

Kim and Donnie were very rude Kiara even saw it thats y she said don't worry about them listen to me. DONNIE n Kim needs to b removed from the panel so they can go have their personal relation as she stated. I agree with the contestant n everything he said. this is a competetion ppl stop being so rude. Kiara looked surprised with. Her mouth open u r beautiful baby.

Yes I think Kim is a little rude at times. She has a strong personality and with those people after trying to sing in front of them they are nervous and to see the disrespect makes it even harder to perform. She has done this a few times and it has been seen during the auditions but this contestant had the energy to speak on behalf of it...good for h for speaking up for himself!!! Good luck to him . Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for Kim and her brashness.

I do believe he was very disrespected.I also believe that Kim and Dionne should not be allow to return.

"Yes, I am at least 70% in agreement with the young contestant who appeared to have allowed his emotions to take over during his audition before a group of "top of the line gospel artists serving as judges" and he was so focused on impressing, pleasing or being accepted by the group of judges - before whom he was performing -- and trying so hard his nerves took over and affected even his voice pitch and Personally I feel the young contestant became aware he might not make the grade ... but when Kim Burrell started laughing and then Donnie and she started whispering ... it was just too much for him and though he knew had not made the grade performance-wise ... he just expressed his feelings because he had nothing more to lose ...considering what the contestest went on to tell the judges Who had nevertheless displayed how unprofessional, rude and insensative they could appear to be?

I totally agree with the contestant. Kim is very rude. I have never been a fan of hers and never liked her singing either. Don't let on stone trip you up young man.

Dennis spoke the truth they was very rude and disrespectful. God opens the door for some and they just forget where they come from. They should just have new judges every season. Having a great voice means nothing if thee anointing isn't there.

He was 100% on point! Kim Burrell has issues. She's enough to make me not want to watch future shows. And Donnie is just as bad. Yolanda was just as bad last year however she had showno alot of improvement. Definitely time for new and improved judges. It would be awesome if Kirk was a judge of host.

They were very rude and disrespectful. He did not have to respond to them in that manner; he basically stooped to their level, but I do understand where he is coming from. He was nervous and here he is standing before these singers that we grew up on and they treated him as if he was worth nothing. He stated that he used his rent money to make a point not for their emotional support. My heart goes out to him. They are not glorying God they are glorying themselves.

It was very rude for Pastor Kim Burrell and Donnie to laugh during the young man performance. Even if the laughter was not directed at him, it was still rude. This is supposed to best a Gospel Show. They really need new judges. I will not watch again.

  • Tracy - 10 years ago

I think the judges could have handled it a little different, even if Kim was not laughing about him. But the fact she said something to Donnie while he was performing made it seem that way, and that is how the brother took it....we live and learn!

  • Kim - 10 years ago

Personally, I do think that it's disrespectful. Sometimes when gospel celebrities make it to a certain status, they believe that they are above people. Even if Kim was not directing her laugh towards him, she could have waited until the contestant left. Besides, anyone will feel degraded if they were being judged by four people, and two of them are laughing. Yes, the laughing may not be directed towards the contestant; however, it was not a good look. I also feel that over the past couple of years Sunday's Best has gotten a little messy with the disrespect of the judges towards the contestants. This is suppose to be a "church" show. If someone wanted to watch judges disrespect contestants we could watch American Idol, or Xfactor...I'm just saying we need to be better about how we treat the contestants. Lastly, I still love Kim Burrell, I thinks she is a phenomenon singer & have all of her cds; however, the truth is the truth.

Yes, they were rude and I'm glad he stood up for himself. He spoke the truth and he was not disrespectful or nasty. He said how he felt. it is rude to laugh while someone is performing, whether its about them or not because they don't know that. Furthermore, it was not a concert, it was an audition so be professional as judges. Then, Kim had a nerve to catch an attitude when he addressed her. Not a good look, Kim, not at all! I loved Kierra and Yolanda's spirit. And Donnie why did you act like that man couldn't express his concern?? Both you and Kim's first response was to apologize to that man.

  • Katie - 10 years ago

Kim and Donnie were very rude. They are judges. Whether the person could sing or not, they should have never been laughing, whispering or joking about anything but listening to the performer. If the person is already nervous that will draw his concentration from singing to them. THEY WERE SO WRONG FOR THAT!!!!!

  • PSALMZ 91 - 10 years ago

I have seen this so many times not just on Sunday's Best; but Sunday mornings too! It is very rude for anybody to talk, whisper, giggle/laugh and make eye gestures when there is someone standing before them; whether it is or is not about that individual. I understand that the Sunday's Best panel is made up of the industry's top and seasoned performers; and if anybody should know what it takes, they do. But sometimes, you can become insensitive and not realize it! I have learned that people sometimes treat people the way they were treated when they were rising up; and feel that it is ok. But it is not. You are hard on somebody because somebody was hard on you. God has no respect of person; and regardless of who you are or how long you've been in the business, you don't have the right to be rude to somebody else.

  • Rob - 10 years ago

It's about time some one spoke up , down though the years it's the same ones you need new judges .

  • Petsi Musgrove - 10 years ago
