Would you support new funding for development of technology to detect a child left alone in the rear seat of a vehicle?

This is about people that had no conscious decision in the matter. They did not make the decision to leave their child in the car & simply "forget" them. These are people that their brains are telling them they already did what they had to do. You can't remember something you didn't know you loss the memory of. This is a serious thing. Help is needed to prevent this.

There are people that leave their child to go into a store for 5 minutes or an hour knowing the risks, or even not knowing the risks but consciously making the decision to leave them. Those people did commit negligence. I'm not referring to those people. There is a difference. I just want to make that clear.

The problem is that people think this is an act of bad parenting or lack of love. None of which is true. It couldn't be further from the truth to be honest. I am one of many victims in a tragic loss of a child from hyperthermia in a car. This is an important petition. This deserves full awareness & action. This happens to good, attentive & caring people. Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it couldn't. Noone ever thinks it could. Noone. I'm sure it never crossed any of these people's brains - as it never has mine. There are too many people out there that don't know. That is part of the reason this keeps on happening! Stop pointing fingers & be a part of the prevention! Spread the knowledge. Please.

To address the getting away with murder comment, why? Because that's how you think. Because you think that way doesn't mean these people do. They lost love ones. They've lost their children! Who are you to step in & give any sort of insight? You don't know these people, don't know what their lives are like, you don't know what sort of struggles or troubles reside are in their minds. Stress & depression I have learned are large contributors to memory loss. It goes back to that old saying, you don't know until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

Ignorance is a big part of this. Our society is so twisted. The media is part of this. Where is our humanity... after-all we are human... last I checked.

I know we're all human,BUT,WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THESE POOR DEFENSELESS CHILDREN IS PURE NEGLIGENCE! PARENTS HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL!If they bring their child(ten) on a trip to the store,MAKE SURE THEY COME IN THE STORE WITH YOU,OR FIND A BABYSITTER TO SAFEGUARD THEIR PROGENY! YOU HAVE TO STRAP THEM INTO THE CARSEAT,SO YOU KNOW THEY'RE THERE,CARE ENOUGH TO TAKE THEM OUT OF THE CARSEAT AND TAKE THEM IN WITH YOU!

I'm my opinion with so many of these tragedies happening something needs to be done. Parents of these children are getting away with murder simply because the forgot? And then you have people making excuses for them, saying it's not their fault but their brain. If you're a parent it's your responsibility, you had the child, take care of them. It goes back to that old saying, do you know where your kids are? Pay attention.
