Both my parents have smoked my entire life and when they started there were no warnings. When I started smoking there were warnings, but to me, my parents seemed healthy after smoking their whole lives so I didn't think it could be as bad as they said. I say this to emphasize the fact that this is a cycle started by the tobacco companies when they knew they were selling a harmful product and only admitted it when they were forced to. Not only did they keep on selling a product that they knew was killing people but they actually started advertising more and targeting children. Companies should be responsible for the effects on people that their products cause. Wouldn't the world be a better place if they were held responsible? Not just tobacco companies but all others as well.

I do agree with the verdict, however, I don't agree with the amount. I myself started smoking before the warning had come out and put on packages. I have made several attemps to stop I have tried everything gum that damnaged my teeth patches pills....if I knew then what I know now I would have never started but when most of your family smokes and works at Philip Morris well it's a no win.

I do not agree with the verdit. Why? I smoke,I am very aware of my actions. To claim the husband was never told smoking was harmfuL has to be false, I have known since I was 12 years old. Also,if companies had to pay for people from using their products that is harmful to their health, then alcohol, fast foods, processed foods, guns etc..should also be as responsble. And just think of what should be done to help smokers quit, insurance will not pay for treatments or most medications, and try buying one of the help quit smoking products and see just how much they cost! As for me, this case as with as past verdits are nothing but another way of Lawyers getting rich, good media, and another example of people wanting the government to save us from our selfs. I have lost friends and family from car acidents, cancer, drinking ane yes guns! I know the family that lost their loved one will never get over their loss, and my prayers go out to them. I also need to stop writting now before I get cancer or sonething from using this cell phone! And if ypu want to help people stop smoking, fight for produts and clinics to be free, and stop putting them out in the streets in the weather. That will not stop people from smoking. By the way, here iS a true story for you. I was outside of a resturant, smoking, a young lady came out,who has been drinking at the bar, she said "Smoking will kill you!' As she walked to her car, and I said, " So will drinking and driving' she laughed and got in her car and drove off. So please, take you lawsuits and media and do what you will, and send me a million or two, and I'll find my own way of quiting!

My husband is sixty nine years old. He has smoked since she was 12 or 13 years old. For years he has tried to quit. He has tried hypnosis, education classes, has been hospitalized with a blood clot in his lung - all to no avail. He has serious health issues and takes medication regularly. He, like so many, had no idea.
