I feel he played the role of a good father. That's what acting is. These women kept quiet because they knew no one would believe them at the time. Once one came forward, then the rest felt that they would be heard and given a chance to tell their story. They have nothing to gain, except the true to be told. Stop making a hero out of a liar.

Well we passed several months and comments flying about his innocence. The count now stands at 55+ women accusing Bill Cosby of rape and other molestation. the majority of these women are not getting a dime for coming forward, nor will they since too much time has elapsed. I loved the show, the man and the persona. But he admitted in a deposition that he had drugs and he admitted to giving them to the women for sexual encounters. He settled one case to avoid trial, and so he could admit no guilt. One case stands as sexual abuse of a minor. And you all still think he didn't do it? Get your blinders off people. Yes innocent until proven guilty. Which is right around the corner. This is not a case of white against black this is a case of right against wrong. Even people of high standing and with power will be held accountable In a court of law. He just happens to be black and just happens to think his power was too great to be touched. I applaud the women for coming forward. There were several black women as well, not only white as many commenters claimed. I would have expected Phylicia Rashad to be more protective of women in general, but her comments sadden and sicken me. I wonder how she feels today, with the wealth of evidence that has come forth. I hope she regrets her words spoken and changes her mind if even inside herself. I believed in Bill Cosby initially, but facts are facts. And it isn't only God that knows what went on! Bill Cosby knows too. It's sad that justice will come at an old age for him. He should have thought about it, especially when he was busy telling fellow blacks to do better. He should have heeded his own words! What a hippocrit?

Like everything now it's about money . I've always said Negro-Americans only go as far as Caucasians let them . If you say something or do something to displease , well than you will be shown just who does have the power and will bring you back down . Many successful none Caucasians forget how they or who helped them to the top . So literally you must not bite the hand that helped you . To all these people asking why these women have waited so long to come forward, have you ever been drugged and/or raped? And by someone you thought you could trust? Then stop passing judgment. It's pretty hard to believe that this many women are lying. It's very well known that many rape victims are scared to come forward especially when their attacker is this powerful and well respected in the community. Once one woman comes forward it becomes easier for others to do the same. The only people who are really defending him are his wife and the other people who get royalties from the show that has now lost a lot of money because of these allegations; I think that says a lot. This is not a conspiracy against Bill Cosby, this is most likely women finally finding their voice and speaking up about very traumatic and difficult things that have happened to them.

This is way bigger than anything the average tv-watching, dumb, American can possibly fathom. Ever since Mr. Cosby tried to buy NBC, he's been under attack. The murder of his son was a message to him to stop trying to elevate Black Americans to a higher social and economic status. EVERY Black show BEFORE 'The Cosby Show' was either unrealistic, had a dismal outlook for the Blacks in the show, or was misrepresentative of Blacks in some way, shape, or form. Mr. Cosby's show was teaching Blacks HOW to become better parents, Black children to become more obedient children with goals that would keep them OUT OF POVERTY and OUT OF PRISON, how to treat your SPOUSE(NOT your "shack-up"), and just generally what a loving, FUNCTIONAL Black family LOOKS like.
Black America is being attacked right now and the strategy of the enemy is to get Black women interested in dating white males("Scandal", "How To Get Away With Murder", "Arrow", etc.), to elevate Black WOMEN to a HIGHER social AND economic status than Black men, and to have law enforcement officials who are TRUSTED by whites to MURDER Black males, young and old, with NO accountability, consequences, or even a COURT TRIAL.
MANY Black women appear to be too stupid to SEE this, and are LARGELY playing right into the hands of the enemy('Scandal" parties? REALLY?). It hurts me to read these comments and this article. All of you who think Cosby is being attacked because of his support of black family values are out of your damn minds. We all idolize him as an actor- he's been a huge role model and started in one of the most famous American TV sitcoms. I get that. But the person you see on television is NOT the same guy off-screen. It never is.
Everyone saying "why wait this long to tell the truth"- this mentality of blaming the victims for not speaking out sooner, then besmirching them and not believing them when they finally DO come out, is exactly why so many women never speak out. The tendency for our culture to criminalize the victim while placing no blame or doubt on the accused rapist is absolutely unbelievable.
For these reasons above, plus the fact that their rapist is a well loved, powerful actor absolutely discouraged these women from speaking out. Can you imagine facing the decision of telling the world something that would color their view of one of our most beloved actors? People still would have had trouble believing them then.
I don't know how anyone can read the claims of these 15 women and STILL believe that Cosby is a golden boy. Fifteen women is not a coincidence. It's not a conspiracy. It's a history of rape finally coming to light.

Typical example of taking advantage of one of the easiest and most achievable accusations that history has shown to be successful in a majority of court cases involving a Black man being accused of sexually disrespecting a white woman. There are still in existence those kind of people who cannot take it when someone they know, who just happens to be of African American decent, has risen to the top and they have not. Some or all of the women may either be telling the truth or lieing. The first woman finally speaking out gave the others courage ti do so.
Tearing down a legacy? Why would someone wait so long conspire against Mr. Cosby? It's a fair question especially since so many ask why these women came forward after so long.

if Bill Cosby was a serial rapist, why is it that the only accusations against him were from 30 years ago. Did he suddenly stop being a rapist? Did 15 years ago he suddenly stop raping women?. Rapists do not stop until they are caught.

i find it odd that he and all of his accusers were in a private location alone to "discuss a role" or a "business deal". I believe the business was sex, drugs and cash between a buyer and seller. The seller's product had a shelf life and her negotiation skills don't have the same effect 30 years later. So the seller has decided that extortion of $100M is a viable option if she can get enough sellers to join the "classless action suit". Mr. Cosby's infidelities are between him and his wife.

You are right, we don't know what happened. I just don't understand why these women would wait so long to say they were raped, why they would be alone with a man they don't know much about, why they would do drugs unresponsibly with him. The count now stands at 55+ women accusing Bill Cosby of rape and other molestation. the majority of these women are not getting a dime for coming forward, nor will they since too much time has elapsed. I loved the show, the man and the persona. But he admitted in a deposition that he had drugs and he admitted to giving them to the women for sexual encounters. He settled one case to avoid trial, and so he could admit no guilt. One case stands as sexual abuse of a minor. And you all still think he didn't do it? Get your blinders off people. Yes innocent until proven guilty. Which is right around the corner. This is not a case of white against black this is a case of right against wrong. Even people of high standing and with power will be held accountable In a court of law. He just happens to be black and just happens to think his power was too great to be touched. I applaud the women for coming forward. There were several black women as well, not only white as many commenters claimed. I would have expected Phylicia Rashad to be more protective of women in general, but her comments sadden and sicken me. I wonder how she feels today, with the wealth of evidence that has come forth. Like everything now it's about money . I've always said Negro-Americans only go as far as Caucasians let them . To all these people asking why these women have waited so long to come forward, have you ever been drugged and/or raped? And by someone you thought you could trust? Then stop passing judgment. It's pretty hard to believe that this many women are lying. It's very well known that many rape victims are scared to come forward especially when their attacker is this powerful and well respected in the community. Once one woman comes forward it becomes easier for others to do the same. The only people who are really defending him are his wife and the other people who get royalties from the show that has now lost a lot of money because of these allegations; I think that says a lot. This is not a conspiracy against Bill Cosby, this is most likely women finally finding their voice and speaking up about very traumatic and difficult things that have happened to them.

It hurts me to read these comments and this article. All of you who think Cosby is being attacked because of his support of black family values are out of your damn minds. We all idolize him as an actor- he's been a huge role model and started in one of the most famous American TV sitcoms. I get that. But the person you see on television is NOT the same guy off-screen. It never is.
Everyone saying "why wait this long to tell the truth"- this mentality of blaming the victims for not speaking out sooner, then besmirching them and not believing them when they finally DO come out, is exactly why so many women never speak out. The tendency for our culture to criminalize the victim while placing no blame or doubt on the accused rapist is absolutely unbelievable.

if Bill Cosby was a serial rapist, why is it that the only accusations against him were from 30 years ago. Did he suddenly stop being a rapist? Did 15 years ago he suddenly stop raping women?. Rapists do not stop until they are caught.
This is the reason i know these accusations are simply efforts at extortion. No one within the past 20 years says this happened? So he suddenly quit raping women after he no longer had a television show? Really?

i find it odd that he and all of his accusers were in a private location alone to "discuss a role" or a "business deal". I believe the business was sex, drugs and cash between a buyer and seller. The seller's product had a shelf life and her negotiation skills don't have the same effect 30 years later.
