I have seen the majority of the comments have said that Mo Nique would not have made a better Cookie than Taraji P. Henson, and I completely agree. When I heard this on the morning show, I couldn't wait to come home and comment because I think that the part of Cookie Lyons was made for Taraji P. Henson, she plays the role that well! Nothing against Mo Nique, but I honestly believe this show would not be so incredibly huge if Mo Nique had played the role of Cookie, the whole entire show would have been received differently. Taraji P. Henson IS Cookie to me, and I know I wouldn't be glued to this show like I am if Mo Nique played Cookie. Sorry Mo Nique!! But I am so in love with Jamal!! I wish he would come find me!

In the format the show is coming from now,no Mo'Nique wouldn't have fit into that format as Cookie but she would have been a great access to the show in a different role. Having those two power houses would have been beyond belief!!

If we believe Mo'Nique, it would have been her playing opposite Wesley Snipes which I can't see at all. It would not have been the same chemistry or appeal as Taraji & Terrence.

Monique, you and Terrance Howard would not fit as a couple. Taraji and Terrance click. Plus there is a difference in playing gangster like and ghetto roles. You have mostly done ghetto type and comedy roles. Neither plays a part in the story line. You are a good actress and comedian (minus the cussing), but airing this issue this way shows you are more fit for the ghetto roles.

I don't believe she would have done a BETTER job; but, I don't think the role would have suffered either. Monique is a gifted actress and she would have brought her own spin to Cookie. I do agree that the male lead would have to be different. I don't know if she could have matched the chemistry with Terrence Hiwaed that Taraji has.

Although Mo'Nique is an outstanding actress and could play a Cookie Lyons,this Cookie Lyons was made for Taraji P hands down spunky,sassy,sexy and a great match for Lucius. She could have played her sassy assistant. Knowing Mo she feels she was too big for the part but this is a good role it would have at least opened the door for her to get more parts. Sometimes we have to humble ourselves. She doesn't just want to be a memory.

I was already hesitant about watching Empire in the first place, because when I saw Taraji playing another "Baby Boy" role I was just like oh no here we go again. I gave it one episode, and from there I was a Cookie fan. She's so good at it lol. It fits her so well like she's really like that or was once like that in reality. Now had I seen Monique in it... I definitely wouldn't have given it a chance. She's too extra for me. Taraji reeled me in.
