I also just returned back to work with the same company but told me I had to work at a different location and then arnt giving me my full time hours also are not paying me covid pay and they new I was pregnant again when I came back and were fine with it but make me clean people shit up in bathroom give me the cleaning duties and treat me like crap half the time. They said because they are slow and that I cant work same place cause of covid. Then why is the goverment helping pay wages if they cant provide hours . This pissed me off. And I am a single mother of 4 soon to be 5. I'm always struggling to live day to day . I think businesses get away with 2 much pullshit and it's not right. They should be holding our jobs for us like they are sapose to.

I was downsized 10 days after telling my employer I was pregnant (3 months along) leaving me to scramble to find another position while noticeably pregnant. I went to two lawyers who basically told me it would drag out in court and to take the basic package I had been offered after four years with the company. Since I was 38 with a higher risk pregnancy, we decided we didn't need the stress. Fortunately, there are good people in this world and I managed to find a position to take me up to my mat leave. I was advised that in Ontario these claims have no teeth and I was basically out of luck.

My employer said they didn't have a position when I returned to my job of 6 years and then proceded to hire a few months later For my position. The worst thing is, now I don't qualify for ei as you don't earn any hours while your on maternity leave. I think employers should give you your job back or you should qualify for ei. Employers are not held accountable and the only choice people have is to hire a lawyer.

I'm currently on maternity leave as well. Last month I called my employer to establish the day I would return to work. He informed me that they did not have a job for me anymore. What happened to 52 weeks of job-protected leave? I called the employment standards board and human rights but apparently they are not allowed to "advise" me on what to do. So my question is, who do I get answers from if they cannot help me? This is utterly frustrating and to top it off, I was not offered any severance. I agreed with the article when it said "put of sight, out of mind", that is completely true.

The Canadian police should be deporting thieves -without the money they stole. Just dump them. Their countries of origin obviously don't want them back. They just stole about 2 million out of the condo reserves where I live and were never made to pay it back. Never even went to court. How much would that $2,000,000 help that woman and her little baby?
