I for one can say i came to vote only when Ilona posted cause i didnt know it was up again. I came straight to it, so yes ots possible for it to jump like that if all the other fans did this too. And seriously how time comsuming to try and cheat. How would u even begin to. Proud to be an IA fan. Love their stuff

Both authors have Facebook pages- Christina posted a link to this vote pretty early on so a lot of her fans would have voted early on but Ilona posted the link 10 hours later so all her fans started voting then, (I voted early on and there wasn't much change when I refreshed but when Ilona posted on Facebook there was a massive surge in votes).
Kirsty- Christina does have more fans but if you look at the number of people commenting and sharing their posts Ilona has the edge.
Magic breaks also had more votes in the previous rounds (about 2,500 as opposed to 1,500) and as book 8 in a series people are going to be more invested in it so I'm not surprised it's doing so well.
Public disclosure...I'm a Magic Breaks fan and I voted that way. I'm not sure if it helps the fans of Sweet Filthy Boy but after reading the comment from Lauren I decided to see what her book is all about. It's available at our public library so I'll pick it up today and take it with me on a short vacation. I'll also be checking out her facebook page and any author website page she has. That's what I like about the contest, you can find new authors just by playing.
This is why I don't like these voting things, last year everyone accused everyone else of "cheating" and it got really stupid and frustrating.
If someone really wants to dedicate hours of their time by repeatedly voting, that's up to them, nothing you can do about it. I will vote once to show my support of I.A. And move on with my day.
Hey guys, this is ALL for fun! IA has been doing these for years and has a huge following. We are the relative "new kids on the block". I don't think anything fishy is going on--she's got a great fan base and a lot of people have selected her to win. Let's keep it fun! I love you guys for worrying about this, I really do, but I don't want bad feelings and this site isn't going to be shady. YAY ANSEL! I far as I know this is just for fun. If anyone is majorly upset over "cheating" may I gently suggest they have too much time on their hands and perhaps should investigate volunteer activities in their respective communities?
No matter the outcome, we should all be proud of how we have rallied to support our authors and/or brackets. I think this is going to be the highest accumulated vote count in the history of this contest to date! Please behave with courtesy and good sportsmanship.
Just realized while reading their blog how many men are fans of Ilona Andrews. I can't really see a lot of men walking around with a copy of a book named Sweet Filthy Boy, but a hot chick with a sword and a baddass lion? That's about 1/2 the population of the reading public.
What CM said about the bracketeers makes total sense - the votes are not just Ilona Andrews fans but those who are playing the tournament - and since most selected Ilona Andrews moving on they have a vested interest in voting. Between that and the blog post going out with POV bribes (yesssss!!!!!!!!!), this isn't surprising.

When Ilona posted her reminder to vote, and I saw they were behind, I started texting fellow fans. From the comments on her blog, so did everyone else. I appreciated the commenter who complained about cheating but used the phrase "every time I vote." Run that by me again?
It's just awareness guys. I'm a huge IA fan, and didn't know about the voting til I saw it on the blog. This is supposed to be fun guys. Her books have done similarly well in past votes, and there has always been a loyal fan base. It sucks when your faves don't get picked, but no call to spoil the fun with conspiracy theories.
I love Ilona's books and have never heard of this other author. The bribe from beating Jeanie Frost's book has so far been amazing. With an offer of more of the same, why wouldn't we vote in major numbers.

I get why there's this suspicions, but you should look at how many bracketeers chose Magic Breaks over Sweet Filthy Boy. 849+ vs 124+. A bunch of us aren't Ilona Andrews fans but are riding on their success in this tournament. Facebook numbers mean shat here.

Ilona Andrews have lots of loyal fans who have followed this series for seven wonderful books. Many of us weren't aware that the voting was open until this morning. I incorrectly thought that it opened at noon today. The voting does seem to be honest until the voting patterns in some local elections in my area.

The Ilona Andrews duo have always had a strong showing in the past DABWAHAs (if you care to check). The numbers aren't totally surprising.
Sorry but there's no way that they suddenly jumped up that fast. Christina Lauren literally has more than double the fans than Ilona on facebook (alone). Something sketchy is going on here. I'm not saying it's Illona's fault but some of her fans are doing something to up their votes.

About 3 hours ago they finally put out a message asking for resders to vote. Before that, Many of their fans didn't know it was time to vote again. They have a lot of fans and followers.
