Everyone else has to pay childcare from thier paycheque why doesnt he? Sure he needs a nanny and maybe even 2 but he makes enough money pay for it with your salary NOT MINE

If Mrs. Trudeau could not leave her kids back home to attend an international summit, Mr. Trudeau should just go to Paris by himself, because he needs to make the best of his time there for the interest of 30+ millions. Just look around and check it out, is there any other head of states bringing their kids to Paris this time around?

For one nanny yes, he is required to do his job and travel for it. His wife is expected to attend many events without compensation. With a young family it is not out of line to have a nanny/admin on staff. Two is excessive.

I believe our Prime Minster Justin Trudeau needs to grow up and put his money where his mouth is and pay for his nannies out of his own pocket. Has he forgotten his promises so soon!~!!!~!!

  • DD Lane - 8 years ago

Absolutely not. He can pay for his own kids as he has the money.

People are like Justin Trudea's employer. And the tax money is like his pay for the he performs for people. As an employer, if we accommodate our younge priminister with tools to perform his job, we are just being a good employer... Nothing more. There is nothing wrong with being a good employer and accommodating the younge people to do a dream joneithout worrying about day to day needs of their young life. I have two young children and did not take a day of maternity leave. I wish my employer helped me with my caregiver ... I absolutely approve his nanny expenses. Canadian need to learn how to accommodate younge generation in work force...

I understand that his job is more important and he should require the help. I do have a problem with having 2 nannies and that the whole family and the 2 nannies had to travel to Europe. Thats 7 people times taxpayer dollars for flights, food and lodging. Is this how it's always going to be? Also when I was raising my son (alone) under Chretian I had asked the government to help subsidize my daycare costs while I put myself through school in order to get a job to support my son. I was denied the subsidie and relied on family to help. I could have chose to go on welfare instead but could not get subsidy short term to help better my life. Anyway I have gone on to be very successful and I will never nor want to rely on the government again especially this government. I think the rich Trudeaus can afford at least one of the 2 nannies they have. Did they have these nannies before he became PM and is so they were paid privately and if not he has lived without them so why 2 now?

Are you kidding me??? Prime minister is a Canadian, and represents all Canadians. So can he be exempt from nanny payment? Please pay out of your pocket. Do you know how expensive it is for us taxpayers to find good child Care and to pay for it??well you have a bigger pay check than us I assume, so please do the right thing!! Pay out of pocket and file for child tax...

  • Cherie - 8 years ago

Of course this should be paid for by tax dollars, he is our Prime Minister for Christ sakes!!! For those shallow minded ppl that cannot get over the fact..... Maybe you should pull yourselves together, educate yourselves, quit being so ignorant & try to run the country yourself instead of hiding behind the fact that you never will as you don't have what it takes & GET OVER IT!!! If you don't like it .....MOVE!!!! You are not a tree!!!!!!!

The Prime Minister should pay for the nannies out of his own pocket..He earns a living like the rest of us Canadians..We pay for daycare etc from out paychecks..he should do the same!! Stop trying to get us hardworking taxpayers to pay for your own debts. makes me irate..!

One would like to think that being the Prime Minister of Canada should come with proper help for children. It's not helping out the the richest, it's our Prime Minister. These nannies require special training when it comes to security, public outings and privacy. Such as Bodyguards, Drivers ect. We voted for a family with 3 children and should allocate better coverage of the salaries of these nannies.

Justin Trudeau should not have nannies that are paid for by taxpayers. He should be simply entitled to claim childcare costs on his income tax, if either him or his wife qualify. Other people in Canada have two work out a way to take care of their children, why shouldn't he and his wife have to do the same thing? My son and his wife have to juggle their work schedules and get help from family in order for there always to be there with the kids. Other people I know, one of the parents work two jobs so the other one can stay home and take care of the kids. I can't even imagine how single parents arrange the schedule for child care unless they can afford a nanny.. Justin Trudeau is working at a good paying job so why isn't his wife doing the childcare herself.
The Trudeau family is not in the low income or middle income bracket. What reason would there be that they could not afford a nanny or two if they really needed one?

He has chosen this career, which is demanding but he is also spending less time for his family to represent Canadians. Not a big deal. I'm sure there are bigger problems out there!

  • Phil - 8 years ago

Of course we should as a country foot the bill, and be proud to do so. What would you expect for the leader of our country, when he and his wife are to attend functions ... should they be calling for a babysitter? There are lots of demands on that family, THEY REPRESENT US VERY WELL on the international stage and deserve some continuity provided by a nanny and we should be pleased to pay for it. GROW UP Conservatives, this should be a non-issue.

  • Marg - 8 years ago

Our so called PM has a lot nerve to even think of taxpayers to pay for his nannies etc. He hasn't grown up yet, still a child.

If someone said he could why wouldn't he anyone else would

I am LIVID! How DARE HE? I was a single parent most of my life, and always had to pay my own daycare. No-One ever paid for me. Why should we? He can pay his own Nanny's and then submit his receipts for a tax break like all the rest of us Canadians. What wrong with his wife Sophie taking care of their own kids? She's not working or does she expect to go round the world with her husband on our tax dollars too? Get a grip Trudeau.

I did not vote for him and I am sickened that he is in power. This will not be the only problem this man stirs up for his own selfish interests.

No taxpayers are not responsible for chid care costs or housework costs he ha a wife to look after house and children my mother had 6 children and worked nights at hospital and dad worked days no nanny or housekeeper ever what's wrong with watching your own family it can be worked out try it

  • Margaret - 8 years ago

Justin Trudeau has more money than any average Canadian family and yet he thinks we should pay for his child care/household service? Do what I say not what I do, his advice is for all Canadians except himself

  • Janie - 8 years ago

Good Grief...................every family with Children has to find a way to care for their children themselves, whether that be day care, grandparents, exchanging with friends, or one parent staying home to do their parental duty. I am sure that Mr. Trudeau is being paid enough money to foot the bill himself without extra handouts from the taxpayers. So much for all the rhetoric and promises that were spouted off during the run up to election. How the climate changes as soon as you are elected. you should be ashamed of your self!

A stay at home parent and partner of someone who travels for business does not qualify to have childcare ( nanny or other as it is considered the parent at home's job ) We are not allowed to income split, or have assistance (cleaning or care ) that we can deduct from our taxes. It is unfortunate that the prime minister believes his situation is more worthy of our tax dollars than the countries one income, 2 parent families. The fact that we are now paying for his nannies/ house help is a slap in the face and he should be ashamed. Pay for it yourself Justin and welcome to the real world.

  • Outraged Single Mom - 8 years ago

Absolutely not! His children have a 2 parent home. His income is high enough for him to pay for his own childcare in whatever form he and his wife deem appropriate. I find it absolutely ridiculous that the tax payer is footing this cost! I am a single parent to 3 kids, 1 of whom is severely disabled. I work (around my childrens schedule) and pay for childcare myself if it is needed, and I make no where near the salary he does. I am insulted that he thinks it is acceptable for me to foot part of his childcare costs while he is covering none of mine?

  • Doug - 8 years ago

Appears to be "do as I say, not as I do".
He is not a single parent, nor is he being payed minimum wage.
What exactly is his wife doing in order to not look after the children?

  • Gladys - 8 years ago

Yes Trudeau has a demanding job. But I'm sure he can afford to pay himself.

  • Jill - 8 years ago

Other PMs had staff. Harper had a chef. What's the difference?

  • George Thiesen - 8 years ago

I think the Prime Minister of Canada makes enough money that he can afford his own nannies and if he wants to help himself then he should help the rest of us as well. Being Prime Minister doesn't mean you can break the rules that you feel are appropriate for our economy.

  • Martha - 8 years ago

If Mr. Trudeau was a single dad, I could understand why he needs 24 hour a day childcare, but he has a wife who does not have any official duties, other than to look pretty on his arm. Why can't she look after her own children. When my husband and I were both working when our children were small, we paid. Mr. Trudeau makes a lot more money than we did. Let him pay for his own childcare. The taxpayers didn't ask him to have children.

This is the socialist way - spend other people's money.
