Should crossing the floor to another political party be banned?

She has defrauded the people who voted for her as I believe that her mind was made up
long before yesterday to defect to the NDP. This is not done on a spur of the
moment. How specifically was she bullied and exactly who did the bulling? Riding on a
feminist whim doesn't cut it This is nothing more than self serving greed for power and
recognition, witness the attempt to be leader of the PC party then moaning when she
realized she wouldn't get the position. I hope the people in her riding vote her into
    obscurity the next election.

This is the problem we are having in politics right now, the MLA's are NOT listening to and representing the wishes of their constinuents. Tens of thousands of phone calls, emails, petitions and rallies took place to vote no on bill 6, and not a single NDP voted no on a bill that upon digging into it you would find actually harms Alberta farm workers because it forces them to downgrade existing private insurance to go to the broken WCB system. It also opens up Alberta farms to fines of up to $500,000 if you employ just 1 part time temporary employee because it opens you up to OH&S involvement with all its fines, tickets, extra costs in an industry where there is already a small margin in profit in your big job of feeding people. Bill 6 is nowhere near in line with other provinces.

Why do I say this in light of Sandra's crossing the floor? To say that she has joined a party who can't be reasoned with, who doesn't do their research prior to implementing their ideologies. Take the carbon tax for example. They have not taken the time to assess the economic implications it will have in our already hurting province. Sandra should know that she joined a party that voted down an exemption for even the food bank to have on carbon tax, thus increasing their operating costs in a time when Albertans are having to use them in record numbers. Albertans want to work but our reigning government is continually making it clear to every industry but wind and solar, that will fail us and sky rocket our energy bills like Ontario and harm the people and animals forced to live by them, that Alberta is not a good place to do business.
You can't place anti-oil activists on Albertas energy board and expect oil and gas companies to stick around and ride this recession out.
It's good Sandra showed her true colors in her crossing the floor, it's completely unacceptable that the party is now backtracking on their previously made public belief that floor crossers should rerun. But as we've every day since the NDP have been elected. They do what they want.

Funny how the Premiere was against floor crossing during this interview but apparently if it is to her party, it is okay.

Jansen's crossing the floor was a betrayal for her constituents. The ethical action would be resigning so a byelection could be called. Back in 2014 when she blasted MLA Len Webber for quitting the provincial Conservative caucus, saying if he was unhappy in politics he “should go back to being an electrician.”, perhaps she should go back to being a news reader.

First, a MLA should never be allowed to cross over to a another Party ! Only option is to Resign ! ! !
Should You feel, that You have much to offer Albertan's and Your work is not completed, then foot the "bill" for the bi-election as an "INDEPENDANT" ! Let the constituents decide ! in their faith in Your beliefs !
Do not bring up Peter Lougheed's name and tarnish it, he would have kept fighting for "Albertan's & Alberta" and the "Right" ! ! To make it better ! ! In the Party which he believed ! !

Wow, talk about a pathetic loser. Resign and try to win as an NDP candidate.

Never voted for her and disappointed that she won in the first place. Unacceptable to run for the leadership of the PCs arguing about wanting to be more centrist and then almost immediately after dropping out of the race jumping to the NDP who are nowhere near the middle.

Have the courage to resign and test your luck in a by-election, Sandra. Cowardly and totally self-serving move and not close to representative of the constituency that voted close to 60% for the right wing parties.

Obviously, Sandra Jansen has always been either a NDP or a Liberal in PC clothing. Like a lot of Liberals, she ran as a PC in order to get elected. Liberals in Alberta rarely won seats so they decided to become PC's. She was elected twice in her riding as a PC. Her argument of wanting to represent her constituents who favour her view is a crock!!!! She wants to collect another 2 1/2 years of contributions to her RRSP paid by the taxpayers of Alberta. Do the right thing and resign. I am sure she feels confident that she could run in a bye-election and win resoundingly.

We have party politics. We vote for the party far more often than the candidate.
The voters chose to elect her as a PC. to represent them. If she wishes to leave the party she MUST resign
