Don't like the new chic at all - no emotion - especially when her partner is killed. Fox should have made Lyndie Greenwood the other witness instead of bringing in an outsider. Fox tried to cram too much in the first episode without much explanation. I feel badly for Tom and Lyndie - they are so great !!

The thing that made Season 1 work was heart. I don't care how many monsters and Alexandria-like dusty libraries you have, if there is no emotional punch in the scenes (and direction/editing to showcase it, for heaven's sake!) the show is going to continue to be flat and boring. I am not optimistic about the new female lead. No emotion, no heart. How about a gigantic cry for losing her partner? How about sheer trembling terror at seeing her very first live demon? Nah. Too busy playing "tough gal." That's an amatuerish actor's mistake that should get worked out in a community theater somewhere, not on prime time TV. The child witness? Not interested, primarily because kids rarely are good actors. From what I saw, this kid is not exception. I'm not picking on the kid, I'm picking on the casting director and the writers. The nerdy kids in the library? The guy is a good actor, the woman is not, and their lines are cringe-worthy. It hurts me to watch Tom Mison trying to keep this sinking ship afloat and DOA scene work alive, and it's negatively impacting his performances, which are now self-conscious and overdone. As an actor, I can tell he is not having fun, because he is truly alone in these scenes. The other actors do not have the skill to hang with him. This was happening well before the series re-boot, and clearly the cavalry has not arrived with this pilot. The new setting and premise promised much, but the character, plot, and casting decisions are just tragic.

The show was ok! Yes I miss the chemistry of Abbie and Crane, as does everyone else. But to be honest I was never really feeling them as a couple, just as really good friends. I'm glad the Jenny will be on the show. It makes sense that Jenny would show up, after all Crane had called her and if she's a tracker of sorts then finding is plausible. I DO NOT, like the idea of the child witness. I mean what can she do? This is scary stuff (Ok, I still believe in monsters at my age, which I will not reveal)!!! Like monster demons etc. sometimes come on school nights after bedtime, so how will this work? I'm willing to give this a shot though. I was hooked season 1 episode 1. I've actually liked all seasons, although I've felt that they were on the pulse of something they never really developed. I'll keep watching for now!
