It was so rushed, I'm left wondering okay what happened to everyone else besides Mary. No ending for them? I wish they'd make a new season. They'd have enough supporters.

  • Yeah, Me - 3 years ago

It really looks like they got canceled and were allowed wrap things up in one last episode. Considering that last year was only 16 episodes compared to their normal 20+, it was very disappointing that they couldn't ramp up to the end more smoothly and completely. Even an "American Graffiti" type ending giving a recap of each main character's life would have been very much appreciated whatever happened to Lady Kenna? Even an additional half hour could have helped a lot in accomplishing that

Although historically inaccurate, this plugged into a television drama nicely. While I tend to binge-watch comedies, I appreciated this series until the mess that was season 4, episode 16, the finale.

The only disappointment was the expectation of a lot more sex that was edited out of the original broadcast television version. There were articles about how there was nudity and a much more graphic representation of sex. What I saw was 'afterschool special" PG material.

Off to find something new to binge on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I guess I could return to watching Barney Miller on the Roku Channel...

    I enjoyed the series
But the finale is very incomplete. I feel it should be more.
I missed bash, i was expecting suprise entry of bash and help mary to come out of acqusation and kill knox.
Mary and elizabeth would be at peace ruling their nations.
I was hoping for this kind of ending.

Although i literally cried over francis and lola death.

I enjoyed the funny moments of cathrine na mary.

  • Carlien - 3 years ago

It was so abrupt. It felt like all of it hat to be stuffed in the last episodes. Even though the ending is what it should be, mary her head off, it could have used a few more episodes. Even ending the rest of the stories, what happened further in France etc...
Even though the ending I really loved it. Great cast and acting. And just enough of everything. Went straight on from this series to outlanders so staying in the same century and learning a lot of history ????

  • Tishelle - 3 years ago

Ok let me start with saying I truly LOVED this show I was heartbroken about Francis’s death but I always knew he was going to die eventually but the last episode I was greatly disappointed that they just skipped 21 years then headed Mary without telling us what happened to everybody else like Bash the queen mother and her lover the king and his brother even the daughter Catherine didn’t want she just disappeared I don’t understand and how did bash just disappear when he said he would come to her in her time of need then let a person like Knox win like WHAT not only that I am angry how Queen Elizabeth did nothing to help Mary when she literally gave up EVERYTHING and gave Elizabeth everything that mattered to her and how her son just abandoned her I don’t understood how they can end such a great show so disappointingly truly angry about this they should’ve done better????

  • Kim - 3 years ago

I absolutely loved watching this show. But honestly the last episode was horrible!!! I mean really Knox gets away with everything and Mary is imprisoned for 21 years without ever knowing her son since he was an infant then is beheaded. Where did you get your ending?? And what about all the other people what happened to them? Bash, Catherine, king of France, his brother, two sisters, Marys brother, her lying cheating husband, the man she was in love with that protected her what happened to him?? Was he beheaded? And her friend that had a baby that lived there with her what happened to her? You left so many unanswered questions. For this show to have been as good as it was. I really could not stop watching it. I watched all 6 seasons in 10 days. You really ruined it for me with your ending. I seriously cannot believe you let it end the way you did. A true disgrace for the show. You could have at least let Marys son come and have a heart warming visit with his mother before they took her head off. He never got to meet or know his own mother. How was that right? Ruined the whole show with your ending. I’m sorry It was a great show till you got to the last episode then did not end right at all. Makes ya ????!!

  • Rania - 3 years ago

OMG I can not BELIEVE this, I loved this show so so much and adored the characters, how could a show start this amazing and end this horribly????? Who actually thought of this ending wrote and, AND thought it was a good idea. Ugh this just ruined the whole show it was not worth watching. Mary was the strongest character she was not supposed to be defeated like this, it didn’t have to be a happy ending but like what was the purpose of this ending??? And what the hell happened to all the other characters. Why was this RUSHED. I’m so angry even I could’ve thought of a better ending than this. Locked up for 21 years then beheaded??? Like what? Makes this show feel so pointless. And why did knox WIN like after all of this ughhhh. I’m so done and so disappointed.

  • Sil - 3 years ago

I meant to say I WAS infuriated about Mary in my comment not “wasn’t”. I should have proofread haha.

  • Sil - 3 years ago

The ending felt way too rushed. Of course I wasn’t infuriated that Mary was locked away without even being able to see her son and then was killed. If that had to happen to stick to original history, then fine, but there was no closure with the rest of the characters. That weird witch felt super random and just thrown into the script at the last second. We never got to see any story on narcisse, Claude and Luc, Greer, the brothers in France. It felt like I watched the entire series for nothing to be honest. I’m not trying to be cruel, it just felt cut off. I would have liked a small bonus episode to show the endings of everyone else as well.

  • Nichole - 4 years ago

After Francis dies the show became monotonous with scheme after scheme. Then Mary finally has a son and is locked up for 21 years never seeing her son since an infant. That’s a punishment in itself. Then she is beheaded. Terrible ending. And what happened to Bash? He promised to be there in her worse time. That never happened. Ugh so frustrated.

  • Ammara - 4 years ago

I just fhinished watching reing on netflix....last night i saw the last episode n i was sooooo sad..thats nit the ending wht atleadt i want...marry suffers alot her death is not the end...there sould be season 5 ...becoz this end shows that evil wins n loyalty n love for ur people hv no value...aftr watching this kind of end /r conclusion is queens should be strict r mean ,,like Elizabeth...marry did alot scrifices on the other hand wht Elizabeth did???the throne must belongs to marry eng n scots..writer must have to show the audience that marry living happily with her son n elizabetg did something good at the end r marry’s punishment is the wrong decision made by the privy council....plzzzzzzzzzzzz bring us back a happy ending ..

  • Cheryl Thompson - 4 years ago

I thought ending was very confusing knox was found of committing the crimes but no punishment?? Mary wrote to Elizabeth she would give up succession. So my understanding is Elizabeth knew it was Knox who wrote fake letter so why was Mary beheaded? From Reading about Elizabeth and Mary story is very different from show

  • Kim Mclellan - 5 years ago

I hated when Lola was killed & Francis. The end with the 3 way left so much unanswered. So many loose ends of all the characters left you to wonder what happened to them, but a good show

  • Maria Francis - 5 years ago

Justice for mary. . Not enough closure. And knox did not pay for his crimes.

  • Janel - 6 years ago

is there any possibility to make Francis somehow alive, and a lot of my friends discuss that we would lllllove to see continue with the same actors! the movie is really lovely!!!!!!!!!!! Please, write some new story again, that was beautiful!!!! im kinda upset that both of them dyed.

  • Leena - 6 years ago

I agree with Leah. As heartbroken the end of the show left me, my true interest died with Francis. Nothing seemed right without him.

  • Chelsea Denyou - 6 years ago

I have absolutely fallin in love with this show!
As good shows go i know there has to come to an end but i truly had hoped it would continue for years to come. I thiught the ending was rushed and didn't appreciate how queen Elizabeth felt she couldn't save her cousin. Plus how could you feel it was time to end the show? I feel as though it just started. Anyway i loved it either way thanx for atleaat Wrighting and airing ao i could stubble apon it and fall in Love
    Sincerely
    Zswiit1????

  • Leah Papadopoulos - 6 years ago

I loved the show but to be honest with you when Francis died I was done I didn’t need to see anymore so heartbreaking their love was so beautiful

  • Katy - 7 years ago

I had watched part of the final season online and the remaining final episodes were recorded on dvr. I put off watching them until now since I truly hate good byes. I was disappointed with how rushed Mary's life was played out. I know she had to die, yet more of her final years could have been included in the series final episodes. I did enjoy seeing her reunion in the afterlife with Francis, bittersweet to say the least. Other character's storylines left us hanging, no closure sadly. Some scenes were not necessary such as Catherine & Narcisse having a drugged sexual encounter with the witch, and Catherines crazy behavior and unkempt appearance before going to get her daughter Margeaux. I will miss Reign, it will always be one of the best shows CW had in it's lineup. Shame it didn't have more episodes.

  • Shaan Blamires - 7 years ago

I've loved watching Reign and have watched the series faithfully for all four seasons. I've had to watch online, for the past year, as I've been travelling, hence the late review.
For the most part, the writing has been quite exceptional. The costumes and musical scores fantastic. The settings and sets, magnificent. The acting has also left nothing wanting and it has all made the era truly come to life, despite the obvious incongruities. And yet, the privilege taken has only served to enhance the overall likability and memorability of the series.
There have been a few episodes with scenes unworthy of the tone of the series and which were quite unnecessary, and sadly, the final episode contained the very worst of these. The writing of the last episode was both magic in parts and utter garbage in others. The 'manage a trois' was HORRENDOUS! How despicable, regardless of the thinly veiled excuse to include the scene... to do that to Catherine was despicable and degrading and ruined the underlying noble sense of a character who has struggled so hard for that status. As for Narcisse (sp?) , he seemed thoroughly awkward and ridiculous in the scene and lost a lot of his previous sex appeal.... not really his cup of tea, so why was he even there? And who cared about that witch, to whom we had no emotional connection, as she was only just introduced. VERY poor writing, even if writers were simply trying to tie up the ending.
The rushed condensing of the final years of Mary's life made it obvious that the series was being cancelled and that in itself seems despicable to me... I would have LOVED several more years of Reign... it had the potential, if good writers could be found. And what ever happened to Bash!!! He was definitely a favorite and we were not altogether satisfied with the wrapping up of that character. There were many more avenues that might have been explored and Francis Drake might have developed into a beauty, especially for the Elizabeth subplot... so much rich history to explore, there! How sad it had to end so abruptly.
The final few minutes of the final episode brought redemption for me. Everyone knew that Mary would have to die, in the end, and I am glad that was included and not just left out as common knowledge. However, I had always HOPED that the writers would have enough heart, courage, and sense to bring the series full circle, and that they would have the guts to depict Mary and her beloved Francis reunited in death... and it was done BEAUTIFULLY! I cried... and I don't cry.
So, THANK YOU, writers and everyone involved in the production of this beautiful series... I will miss it terribly.

  • ify - 7 years ago

I love the show, but the finale was totally rushed, we never saw conde/kenna/bash or leith, it was just filled with too many cliffhangers.
What happened BTW princess Claude and Narcisse junior?

  • Letisha - 7 years ago

I have watched this show religiously since the Pilot. I have loved every minute of it. UNTIL the end. It felt so rushed. It left out years of Mary Stuart's life, including her marriage to Bothwell. And didn't show the fate of many of the other characters you had grown attached to. It left so many questions and after such a great show, I find that a I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, simply because I know they will be left just as angry and frustrated as I was.

  • Madeline Smith - 7 years ago

I just finished watching this series on Netflix. I had never heard of this show before I found it this summer on Netflix. I loved it! I wish I had watched it when it was on TV. Great writing and characters. I loved the love story of Francis and Mary! They could have lasted forever and I would keep watching! The antics of Mary and Catherine were so funny at times!! I am so sad it ended and I agree with the other comments of it being rushed. Mary was so unique and her life do amazing! I wish the series would continue now that I know about it!

Such a disappoiting & extremely weak & strange finale after so many episodes of great acting, awesome wardrobes/sets & so much continual excitement. It was much too rushed to end Reign in this way. Not a smart choice to wrap up a great series like this.

  • Briana - 7 years ago

I loved this show but the finale just ruined it all for me. I had other expectations for the finale. I wanted to see justice and revenge on the bad guys. I felt as if the story ended on an unfiished scene. Why add in the mysterious witch in the LAST EPISODE!!! Was she really pregnant? Is the baby the spawn of Satan? Where did Nausis go? What happened to Liza and Spain? Why is John Knox still alive! He should have been dead by the finale! (I hate him) I was just very disappointed. To many loose ends. Great acting and amazing fashion throughout the show. Love Miss Kane!

  • rosana - 7 years ago

I really got to love this show, but I have to say that the end episode really disappointed me. I really hope there's going to be a season 5 where Marry would still be alive, I really watched the show mainly because of her.

  • Ashley - 7 years ago

The most important loving character is beheaded in the end alone with no one not a friend not even her son beside her. You tell me

  • Ashley - 7 years ago

This is so disturbing!!!! I fell in love with these characters especially Mary. This terrible abrupt incomplete ending is all I'll remember of this show when I think back on it :( apologies to the writer but it is true. Book maybe?

  • Carol - 7 years ago

I did not like the ending at all! Too abrupt and after you introduce another of Catherine 's daughters too! What is her role? Did she so something drastic? What happen to King Charles? What happen to Mary's Son? What happen to Mary's new lover? Simply too many unanswered questions. Loved the series! Please consider one more season and have a proper conclusion and not leave us to wonder what happen to so many characters.

  • Tina Aponte - 7 years ago

Absolutely love the ending to see them one more time softened the blow of the show coming to an end mary ❤ francis for eternity loved it

  • Tina - 7 years ago

Love the show was hooked on the pilot till its season finally love the ending it made the blow of it comming to an end easier. Will miss the show ????????????

  • Betsy Nieves - 7 years ago

Love the series. Looked forward to watching it. Very upset it ended. So sad Mary had to die. Bring her back please. I loved Reign series.❤

  • Alicia Rodriguez - 7 years ago

I really want there to be a season five i want to see marys third marriage play out and her sons life be shown i want to see when sabastian comes back and what happens to Catherine and Elizabeth there was just so many unanswered questions but the finale was Beutiful but i could see a spin off to it maybe a show about the son or somthing to answer all the un aswered questions

  • Sondra - 7 years ago

I loved the show. And I loved Mary. I am so sad that the ending was rushed and abrupt. I knew that eventually she would die by losing her hair because that is the truth. However I never got closure on everything else that was going on. Her reuniting with Francis at the end was nice and helped me cope a bit. Why couldn't there be one more season?

  • Ashlyn - 7 years ago

I feel too that it was a rushed ending with a lot of unanswered questions. I don't feel the series needed to end. They could have taken us on a history lesson with more of the queen and kings. However I will say I was very happy that Mary and Francis ended up together in heaven

  • Amanda - 7 years ago

Loved the series but why was the ending so rushed... It really spoiled what was a really great series by cramming 21 years into 5 minutes... So disappointed, so many loose ends, with what was otherwise one of my favourite series! We need closure!!

  • Mykayla - 7 years ago

I had to wait for this rushed ending? I have to watch reign on Netflix so I had to wait longer to see what happened to the daring queen Marie. I'm happy she returned to her first true love. But why so rushed? What was her journey like when she had to flee? How did she flee? What happened to her latest lover? Again I say, why so rushed?

  • Michael - 7 years ago

Love the show, but that ending was rushed and I feel that we (the fans) deserved more closure. It all felt like normal episodic tension (with tons of loose ends still being threaded) when all of a sudden it's like - bam! Time travel - it's over, folks. Shows over, go home...didn't feel natural in any way shape or form, and it's frustrating considering the time my wife and I invested in following this otherwise wonderful series.

  • Lynelle Moore - 7 years ago

It certainly didn't need to end. It's called Reign there were multiple Queens the story could have continued with. The story hasn't been 'all about Mary's for a long time.
The final episode also felt extremely rushed, leaving much out.

  • Georgianne - 7 years ago

I too wish the series could have lasted at least one more season. Viewing how the timeline of Mary's captivity over the last 21 years. Also, Elizabeth's reign and her own torment of her life with what she carried on herself. I feel that would have built even more emotion and empathy for these two great historical women. The ending was beautiful. I loved the ending.

  • Iris Abernathy - 7 years ago

I watch the series over and over again. A beautiful love story albeit very bloody and sad. Please do another series of equal or better historical event.

    Thank you so much!

  • Angel - 7 years ago

The ending felt so rushed that it took me out of the surreal space. I became aware of the frantic script trying to wrap it all up. Even some of the camera work did not cut on the action during dialogue. There needs to be one more season where everything draws to a satisfying close, only then will fans be able to keep this cultural sensation alive in their hearts. Let Mary wake in the dungeon after her Nostradamus like vision of her future doom and of heaven. Let her meet Queen Elizabeth already! If Mary is to be her cousin's prisoner for the next 21 years she needs to have the ability to sneak out now and then to meet up with Bash and other friends. Knowing that she can have adventures for 21 years -without the divine burden of being queen- Will give us, a fan based perspective of what could have been missed by historians.

  • Amanda - 7 years ago

Since I knew that Mary was beheaded ( from history class), I went in with eyes open and heart closed. But as the series went on, I grew to love the story, the characters, and the rather accurate portrayal of everything. I am so curious as to what happened to Bash, who Leith married, what happened to Lola's son and more about Emmanuelle, but since it was cut short, I'm still satisfied with the wrap up ending. Will watch over and over ????

  • Helen wall - 7 years ago

I think the show should continue. Make it a bad dream after having the baby, and pursue other adventures before the end. I love this time of history and it better than reality shows. Let us pretend, and have a little glamore in our lives!

  • Rita de la Cruz - 7 years ago

I was sad I didn't want francies or marry to die I wish they lived had kids and rulled their kingdoms as a strong king and Queen.

  • Mia - 7 years ago

Loved the show! Agree with many ppl here why did they ruin it all with that ending?! Did they run out time to write it properly ? I feel soo annoyed with all the loose ends... either I wish the ending was better or I wished I never watched it begin with. I'm actually in shock they worked so hard, did so well, then just let it all fall apart like that. ???? And I just recommended it to a friends... will be taking that back unless they like this horrid feeling I'm having....

  • Denise - 7 years ago

As other viewers have stated, the end was rushed and the witch three way....why??? Too many loose threads....why introduce new characters if just going to end it minutes later!!! Poor choice, viewers have been blue balled....

  • Marilyn - 7 years ago

I'm so sad that it is over ????????????

  • Renee - 7 years ago

Loved the show sad it done. I hated the finale. Left me wanting to see more. Too many loose ends and questions. Made me upset to watch such a poor ending to such a wonderful show.

  • SWS - 7 years ago

Loved this show...The end was rushed--certainly, in the real story Mary escaped with Bothwell and married him before they were captured. Bothwell ended his life in a foreign prison and Mary under house arrest and then was beheaded...there should have been another episode to tie up all the loose ends. Time was wasted on the bizarre witch story with Catherine and Narcisse. I imagine the network didn't approve extra episodes and the rushed end was the result (but the 3 way? Weird and out of alignment with the whole story. Some stupid executive must've insisted on that one. ) Would love to see "REIGN of Stuarts" cover James I and his heirs--he is the man who started the whole witch hysteria in England that then migrated to Salem...lots of drama in the 1600s to explore!

  • Teresa - 7 years ago

    I love this show !! I wish it wouldn't end !!

  • Jenn - 7 years ago

Love LOVE love the show. Sad to see it end. It was nice to see that Mary went on to a better place, but thought it could have given more closure for the other characters that became just as important as Mary herself..thats the only thing that made the episide in poor taste.

  • Lisa - 7 years ago

Just don't get a lot of the ending. Why the 3 way? What happened with the brothers and Spain? Why did the queen bring back Margo. I love this show and will miss it.

  • Cathy - 7 years ago

Not sure why the show ended. But it was bad. Really bad. The jump was pointless.

  • Johan - 7 years ago

I am devastated but the ending was perfect. I hope we travel more journeys that parted from Mary's path but none will come close to the Queen of Scots. The incredible growth of Mary Stuart as a person, with Adelaide's prowess bringing depth to this incredible character caused me to fall in love with her. Thank you for showing us that she remained devout, proud and strong until the very end and went to a place of true happiness with her son fulfilling her dream for her nations, both of them.

  • Ayi - 7 years ago

Please, we expected Catherine to come to the assistance of Mary at least. Elizabeth had no fear from Mary so why couldn't she help. Why the sudden time jump to 21yrs later. Nox should have been put down by what was done to him psychologically, so how did he survive. The other idiot was quick to inform his partner Queen Mary can't be tied to this. And still ran to her after saying I would give my life for u blah blah blah. Reign finale absolutely rubbish. I regretted using my MB as against free wifi to download ds crappy ending.

  • Nicole - 7 years ago

I was devastated by the end. I know her supposed real story. However I loved the one you told, fell in love with all the characters. Found myself looking up all their real stories. I knew Catherine had another daughter was nice to see her at the end. She has a great story. Margo maybe you can tell hers next. Thank you for your version like I said feel devastate and probably will be for a while. Great job bravo

  • Kathy - 7 years ago

I wished you could have made it a 2 hour finale. I think it would have given a bit more closure to the fans if we could have seen why Mary was imprisoned and why she was beheaded. Not to mention how Katherine and her kids would fare after the witch showed us the future.. I didn't know she had another daughter other then the 2 girls in the show so it was weird to bring that up at the end and not explain anything about her..

  • Lynn - 7 years ago

loved the show even though we all know the 'real' history and of course poetic licence was taken, the ending could have been a little better. Mary & Bothwell married and lost twins, so yes it could probably have gone another series to cover all the aftermath of Darnley's death.

  • Farrow - 7 years ago

I love the show. So sad it ended. This show depicted the monarchy as savages, liars and thieves. That is their true legacy.

  • Ursulaholloway - 7 years ago

Amazing show loved the costumes the scenery the acting . I fell in love with the characters . I hated them . I laughed, cried gasped so sad it has ended I wish it didn't jump ahead 21 years . Feel a massive loss . Very moving well done to you all .

  • Michele - 7 years ago

I was disappointed with the finale. I knew Mary would die but jumping ahead 21 years in the last 5 minutes of the show is ridiculous. So may things left unexplained. Maybe there will be a spin off.

  • Laura D. - 7 years ago

I LOVED this show & had no idea it was the series finally, as everything is DVRd I saw it was only the 77th episode. I was aware Mary remaried before she was imprisoned and wish that had been addressed. I was very happy Francis met up with Mary on the other side they were perfect together & that was a sweet ending!!!

  • Bamma - 7 years ago

Very sad to see it end, I would have loved for it to go longer. Guess they need room for more game shows, zombie and super hero shows, So sad.

  • Jalisa - 7 years ago

I hate that it ended. But I was a little disappointed at how rushed the finally episode went. It was so rushed you couldn't enjoy the true history. Bothwell and Mary didn't get to have there relationship before being arrested and didn't get to get into the true history of why Mary was put to death. But to have had so much left to cover the ending was great. I still feel like cathrines story and France story was not finished and left me wanting more. Will there be a sequel going into Elizabeth's story and letting us know more about Charlie's and Henry's dates along with cathrines?

  • Mary - 7 years ago

I love the show!! So sad it is ending. There were a lot of loose ends and so much more to be told about all of them. I really hope the show will return.

  • Lindsey Knight - 7 years ago

Loved this show but the ending was no good. Only thing I liked was that we got to see her with Francis again but I want to know what happened to everyone else? Why bring Margo in for a 2 second scene and not explain it? I hope they somehow give the fans the other stories we need to know!!!

  • Jeniffer - 7 years ago

Too many loose ends of characters viewers have grown to relate to or at least develope an interest for. Create a Fan Farewell finale even in written form to give closure to interesting characters you've allowed to reignite an interest in by a younger generation. Will give kuddos for allowing the 2 to be in eternal rest together. Sweet moment. But for now...Waiting and hoping ????

  • Kate - 7 years ago

Hated the finale, too many loose ends!!what about Katherine? Her daughter? The witch? I couldn't believe it ended that way.....big disappointment.

  • Krista Bailey - 7 years ago

I loved the show! I loved Mary's ending! She got to be with her one true love in the afterlife and finally be happy!!!

  • Jennifer - 7 years ago

Loved this show. Would have liked the finale better if it tied up loose ends on all the characters. What happened in France? Will miss the show! Sad to see it end.

  • Tammy - 7 years ago

I absolutely loved this show and I was so disappointed with the ending. I believe it could have ended with the death of Darnelly and left the rest to our imaginations.

To be honest, I wish I would have stopped watching this series right before Mary became a widow. Just super sad about the ending and the ending of this series.

  • Jennifer - 7 years ago

There were too many lose ends that were introduced without being finished. Ex: why bring the witch in along with Margo to not even tell what happens. I loved this show, but I must say this was definitely one of the worst endings I've seen. Although all shows come to an end, I feel as though this one still had more to show and was just cut a bit too short. Otherwise, it shouldn't have even introduced the new plot and characters in France.

The finale left me wanting more. Lord Bothwell's demise would have been the icing on the cake that I think was needed.

ok while i know it was going to end maybe with mary's death i don't like the fact we don't get to know what led up to her execution or what happened to everyone else and did she actually marry bothwell i mean vampire diaries ended better than that hell it lasted a lot longer than reign

There was too many moving parts for tge series to end. We dont know what happen in France or in Scotland. Did the witch actually get pregnant? What came of John Nox? I knew how the story would end because I know the story of Mary Stewart, but I am still sad to see it go.
