Has NASCAR done enough to stop cheating?

Cheating is and always will be a part of motorsports. However the degree of cheating can get out of hand but there we go back to mine wasn't as bad as yours so why is my punishment worse? I've watched Nascar since the early sixties and still do and it really pisses me off to hear a car was late to qualifying because he failed inspection 3 times. Set a limit on this stuff and after the second try it will cost you $50,000.00 to try again. If the 48 rolls out of his pit and still does a lug nut hold him a lap or make him do a green flag drive thru. Nascar can not keep letting the bigger teams by easily on infractions. It makes a mockery of the rule book. Get rid of buying a garunteed racing position. Stop this play off crap. This isn't baseball. Brian (braindead) France and his cronies have run a great sport into the ground. Maybe it's just the changing of the times. I don't know. But I'd sure rather see a Chevy and a Ford going around Daytona than a bunch of Formula 1 cars.

As an amateur racer, I see the results of cheating frequently. There is a culture of cheating that says, basically, it's not cheating if you can get away with it. But that attitude ruins the sport and makes a mockery of podium finishers. The only way to knock down cheating is to make the price unacceptable. But the teams, owners and drivers don't want that because in this ego-driven sport, everyone thinks they can cheat and not get caught. So, they keep "bending" the rules until they break and then just keep pushing until their number is up. It needs to stop and NASCAR needs to step up and do the right thing. Make the penalties so harsh that the teams simply will not take the risk of "bending" the rules.
