Tough choice. I went with dedicated episode, because I could listen to Sombnambula's pure honey voice for an entire episode.
Sombnambula rocketed to best voice with her five lines.
Though realistically, they should be teachers. Have a reasonable cover/substitutes for the mane 6 going off on adventures. Maybe one episode seeing the pillars adjust, and then from there, we see them walk in the background in the halls and stuff to show that stuff happens without the mane6's direct involvement. Have the pillars show up in teacher meetings.
Also, think about the history lessons the pillars could give!

I don't see that they really need to do anything with them. If anything, leave them for the comics or chapter books to develop further. I wouldn't be opposed to an occasional cameo in the series, but I really don't think more is necessary or wise. At this point the show has too many focus characters already.

Six episodes might be a bit much. but I could see maybe a two-parter. Pair the old and the new - Star Swirl + Twilight, Flash Magnus + Rainbow Dash, Rockhoof + Applejack, Mistmane + Rarity, Meadowbrook + Fluttershy, Somnambula + Pinkie Pie (yes, I only typed them all out to test my memory haha). At first the respective Pillars and Elements clash - we are shown examples of this. Then Pillars get together and complain "Can you believe these upstart new Elements??", while the Elements get together and complain "These old Pillars don't understand how things are today!". Will they never become friends?? Dun dun dun - episode break. Next ep, recap of course, and then we resolve. Eventually the new help the old acclimate, the old share their past experience with the new. This could maybe be prompted by Spike and that one Guy McNoPowers guy from Shadow Play. (I remember all the other names you think I'd remember his...) Everyone learns a bit, grows a bit, warm fuzzies all around, and maybe plant the seed for a later development. Something like The Next Big Bad Guy is watching from the distance and sees the Pillars and the Elements getting all buddy-buddy, and he doesn't like it! Dun dun dun...
Other. I say quietly forget them. There are enough characters already and the show only has one season left. No need to complicate it further by following around yet another group of six.
We still haven't gotten a zebra episode.

Can there be a vote to not include them anymore? They are some of the most boring, underdeveloped and pointless characters in the series. There was no point to having them other than to force a mediocre comic series and all of it for the sake of a toy line meant to appeal to boys. It's so obvious they weren't meant to meaningfully expand on the lore of the series but to sell something.

Adjusting to modern day society sounds fun. One thing I really want is Meadowbrook meeting Cattail. That would be fun
