If you were a hardscrabble Guerrero farmer, which would you grow: corn or poppies?

You can sell your soul and make money cultivating or selling drugs, but in the end, you will either end up in prison, dead, or in Hell.

Corn. Ive always been the kind of person that preferred honest work even if low paying, that is not illegal nor profits off the bad side of humanity. Nor gain on peoples weakness. I would never grow, or sell drugs nor, for example, work on wall street or work for some profit over people corporation. I know that not many people see things that way. Most want to optimize their financial gain. I will say that some of the poorest people, nearly starving have been some of the highest quality humans, often healthier of mind and body. The inbetween zones, the bums in the city, no. Nor even the ones who can afford all the goodies.

I have been to the South. The people there grow corn in the ditches just to have food.
When you have nothing and are hassled by a poor quality government system, the better money crop is a powerful enticement.

Corn is the new renewable energy. They're making plastics with it now and it biodegrades. Clean gas can be made out of it too. Lots of untapped money in corn and out won't land you in jail or dead!
