I remember years ago fishing on the Exploits River in Bishops Falls. The salmon fishing only became good fishing the second week of July. That when you could notice any amount of fish moving in. At the years end the numbers were high

I have been fishing salmon for the last 40+ years. in that time I have seen very good, not so good years and bad years. In the not so good and bad years the salmon came late in the season or after the season closed on the river I fish. Last season they said the counts were down but on the river I fish it was one of the best I have seen in years. this year the fishing in early June was not as good, in saying that the caplin were late landing. The caplin landed this week and since then we have seen good numbers of fish going through the river. I do not know the science that DFO uses to base their counts on, but if you want real numbers ask the people that fish almost everyday of the season and you will get the real facts on the numbers. I am retired and I do fish almost everyday of the season. If you are wondering what river I fish I fish on the Grand Codoy on the west coast. Thank you for your poll on this subject.
