Should the U.S. Senate confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice?

Innocent until proven guilty. Due Process. Reasonable doubt. All of these terms usually apply to criminal proceedings as guaranteed by the US Constitution. However, this is a job interview. The President and Senate should be trying to hire the most qualified person to be a Supreme Court Justice. That is obviously not the case in this matter but should be. I have hired people for sensitive positions many times. I have also conducted background investigations for people with security clearances and for law enforcement positions. I would not hire Judge Kavanaugh for the prestigious, and lifetime position of Supreme Court Judge. I don't say this because I am a Democrat. I don't say this because I disagree with Judge Kavanaugh's positions on a number of issues. I don't even say this because I dislike Judge Kavanaugh since I don't even know him. I say this because he is being considered for one of the most important jobs in the US that requires integrity and professionalism above all else. In what I have seen from Judge Kavanaugh on TV during his testimony and heard from the various (both for and against Judge Kavanaugh) news reports, I don't think he measures up to being the best candidate available for the position. I think the Democrats withheld the information about the sexual abuse allegations to delay the confirmation process. I don't think they should have done that and should be criticized. I think the confirmation process was somewhat of a partisan circus on the part of both parties and the representatives on the Senate Judiciary Committee. They treated both Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford terribly. This has been the most politicized confirmation process I have ever seen. That started from the very beginning when President Trump nominated Judge Kavanaugh. It continued with the Democrats trying to stall the process. It was obvious in the confirmation hearings this was about politics on both sides. Everyone lost sight of the basic criteria needed for a Supreme Court Justice - to be impartial and non-political, above reproach in their personal and professional lives, and to be knowledgeable of the US Constitution, and an exemplary judge and/or lawyer. Background checks are conducted to see if there are any issues in a persons background that would disqualify them for the position in which they are being considered or, in the case of the access to classified material, access to materials in which they would have access in that they could be compromised in such a way as to violate the trust the government is putting into them by giving them access to such material. Essentially, it is to determine if past behavior or issues will predict future behavior or issues. Based on what has been released and discussed regarding Judge Kavanaugh, there is enough information to determine some issues and questions about his character in the past to believe his future behavior is not what one would want of a Supreme Court Justice. That alone should be the determining factor of whether or not to confirm Judge Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court Justice. I don't believe he is the best candidate available for the position.

The Democrats have weaponized the #metoo movement. They have done a huge disservice to ALL victims of sexual assault by leaking Dr. Ford's identity to the Media. If the Dems cared about the victim, they would have followed the well-established protocol for a confidential investigation. Instead, they used this accusation like a hand grende to blow up Kavanaugh's nomination. This proves (just as the Bork and Thomas hearings did) that the Democrats will stop at nothing to gain power. They are the McCarthy-ites of this century.

We live in a country where we have constitutional rights and freedoms.

You are innocent until proven guilty, Period.

Otherwise, we would be in a country where mob rule, lynchings, and anarchy would run amok.

Before this man was nominated both sides were in favor of Him.
The Democrats publicly said, "We will block any person nominated by this president!"
That is obstruction and anarchy, to not even give the nominated person a fair chance, from the get-go the democratic party is determined to seek and destroy any candidate that get nominated, even if they have a clean and admirable record of public service.
It is a shame how this man has been DESTROYED by hearsay, with no corroborating evidence from the well-known socialist democratic supporter Dr. Ford. Just look at her campaign donations, activism history and her last-minute attempt to destroy this man.
Many women are angry at this false or mistaken accusation.
Do the research, you have no excuse, search on the internet and see both sides of the issue.

I believe in Mr Kavanaugh. THis can happen to ANYONE...MALE or FEMALE, even though you hear the accusations from women. How does one protect themselves. I'm sorry, but I have lost faith in peoples honesty. Mr Kavanaugh, though has ALWAYS shown respect for women AND human kind throughout his lifetime. I DO NOT think one could even find a better person than him. All this is a game from the DEMOCRATS and it is time for GAME OVER. I can say for sure...that two good things might come from this...one, Kavanaugh will be CONFIRMED and two...he is the kind of person that will take this experience and make something good out of it. everyone needs to watch because I know what will happen next :)

I feel very strongly about abuse of women and their right to speak up. I also believe these women are falsely accusing Mr Kavanaugh. Why didn't they come forward before. Why did they wait till now...especially the last two. I believe Mr Kavanaugh. I am 71 years old and I have never been so disappointed in the process. I am so tired of hearing about Democrats vs Republicans. We are all AMERICANS!!!!

I don't care what he did when he was drunk in high school. It should have been addressed then. There are many people in office who are not clean. I loved President Kennedy. I did not know about his indiscretions and I did not want to know. I loved the man and I trusted him to take care of us and keep us safe.

My parents were staunch Democrats. I choose to be an Independent so I can vote my choice not their choice.
