Did you receive Monday's Amber Alert emergency notification?

I got the alert around 10:30 PM, seems to be different for different people. So there’s two reasons I can think of for the delay:

    1) it takes a heck of a lot of bandwidth to send even a few lines of data to (literally) millions of people. The network isn’t designed for that load (plus all the other regular traffic). So, it takes a while. If you have ever sent out an email to a marketing list, same thing happens - it takes a long time to clear through all the networks and servers.

    2) we see the Amber Alert, but we don’t see all the investigations and decisions that lead up to making that alert happen. I live in Alberta, so I’m pretty sure the alert happened in Saskatchewan first in a local area then spread to cross (at least) two provinces as investigators decided there was a possibility the suspect could have driven further by then - whether it’s reports of similar vehicles on the highway, or follow up on the fact they aren’t seeing the vehicle locally, or following security camera footage heading west? No idea. But When there are little children at risk, I trust the system is moving as fast as possible. (This would be a different story if we were talking about missing indigenous women or other marginalized people, but that’s a separate conversation).

To clarify my previous comment, I was asking because I wondered why they waited till the middle of the night to send it out. Shouldn’t it have been sent sooner, when more people could have been on the look out? This child was abducted before 7 PM! Thankfully, she was found safe and hopefully alright.

I was listening to the radio and the alert came on interrupting the program.
To the person complaining and asking why is this alert sent in the middle of the night??? I could be wrong, but maybe it's because things aren't limited to happen only between 8 AM to 5 PM.

Got the alert on my phone, the weather app, and it interrupted the show on TV. I’m glad there is an alert system in place for situations like this. I hope they improve it so it reaches everyone.

Came over the weather channel. Wonderful way to send it. They have already established their alert system
Omg to the person who complained that it came at night. Alert !!! Give your head a sharks LT

Same as Laurette! Thankfully it came in as a vibration not a riing. I have family issues so the first thought was it was police calling! But I am satisfied that the system worked.

The alert woke me up at 12:30 PM last night. I’m alone at our cabin for a couple of days, and it scared the crap out of me! Why send this alert in the middle of the night??
