Government buildings should be plain office buildings...no marble floors or grand entrance columns. Government dinners should be tacos and bottled beer. Forget the luxury. Public servants shouldn’t spend their days in better surroundings than the people who pay for the government.

I think we’re going to love AMLO as leader, but I wish he’d take security more seriously

It doesn’t need to be a palace in the air, but a head of state needs transportation on demand, whether on the ground or in the air.
I would think a president’s time is too valuable to go through the process, however streamlined, to get on board a commercial plane. And to be at the mercy of airline schedules, delayed flights for one reason or another, cancelled flights, etc.
And how about the need for immediate communications as required? And decisions to be made as a result?
What would be next? Ground travel by bus and taxi?

2 things: First, whatever airline the presidnet flies on must be totally secured from tomfoolery. Second, good planning should make emergency trips unnecessary except for acts of God (storms, explosions, etc.). An somewhat related point: Tight, professional accounting secured from politicians access and limitations on who can spend month would help prevent money seeping into politicians' hands illegally.

His thy time is too important to sit in airport he is the President of a country not a state
I think AMLO should fly like Trudeau. A mix of commercial first class and chartered jets or a leased Lear or gulstream that’s flies a dozen souls
The President of Mexico needs his own plane for security..
