My name is Bill Grove and I am Blake's dad. First, I would like to congratulate all the nominees for their outstanding performances that led to them being nominated. The amount of time that student-athletes put towards their accomplishments should not be overlooked. Well done !!!
On behalf of Blake and his mom, I would like to thank John Glenn High School for putting their support behind Blake. As luck would have it, it is Homecoming/Spirit Week at John Glenn this week. With little time to prepare, Blake's nomination for this award was incorporated into all the student activities and themes associated with homecoming. The administrators and student body put their full support behind him. Additionally, the central office administration was also gracious enough to make sure the entire school district was aware of his inclusion in this contest. Several other groups had a large hand in helping Blake these past 4 days: Wayne-Westland Arsenal Soccer (where he plays club), Detroit Soccer Central, Michigan Bucks, and the John Glenn soccer parents. His family and friends also played a large role in organizing voting blocks to make sure that someone was voting for him at all times of the day. All of you have our love and respect for helping a great kid out.
Lastly, I was trying to figure out a way to respond to some of the accusations and thinly veiled shots at my son. I have decided to take the high road and offer our sincere hope that all of you have a healthy, great finish to your respective seasons. Good luck to all of you !!!

Just voted for Blake, good luck! All you people saying it is rigged don't understand the power of soccer fans! I went on and voted because a soccer group I follow (that has ton of followers) asked us soccer fans to rally around a fellow soccer player! That's it, not a huge conspiracy, just the sheer power of soccer fans! GO BLAKE!

I was on vacation but just arrived home to pick up my mail from the last few days. I have a direct mail postcard that offered a coupon code for a free pizza if I was to vote for this Blake kid at a school in Michigan . I voted but seems I missed the deadline. Will I still get the free pizza?

Blake Grove is an innocent victim. It is his hair that is the problem. It is sentient and has rigged the voting system. Blake doesn’t even want to play soccer but his hair makes him. Climate Change? Yup, it’s the hair. Hurricane Florence? All Blake’s hair. Blake’s hair will take your Mom out for a nice chicken dinner and then never call her again. It really must be stopped.
I for one can't sit here and not stick up for these kids. This is a voting poll to choose a star athlete, not a board to tear down, talk down, or to speak ill of any player that has been nominated. All of these kids are here for a reason because they are the best. To sit behind a keyboard and speak so hurtful about someone is beyond ridiculous. I AM 100% CERTAIN THAT THIS VOTING SYSTEM IS RIGGED. I attend the same school as Blake and I know for a fact that this kid has no friends. He sits by himself at lunch, walks by himself in the hallways, and people don’t like to be around him because he smells like wet dog. I agree with my husband. This vote is totally rigged and the mastermind is Blake. It makes total sense, never trust a kid who has hair like his. I go to the same school as Blake and he takes all the computer classes, he practically lives in the cyber webs. He has the resources to hack this voting system and he did. Web Browser Jr. will not be raised this way. This I swear!!!
I’m not sure about this. Six years ago Blake was seen at a computer. Why was he at a computer 6 years ago? I’ve taken 6 hours to think about this repressed memory. I’m about 47.01% sure that it was Blake at that computer. Was he creating this malware worm to insure his victory in Hometownlife’s Athlete of the week back then? I can’t prove that he didn’t create a worm that would insure his victory. I will testify Thursday about this.

I’m telling everyone the same thing happened when my daughter was nominated!! I thought the same thing!!! I have voted for someone other then Blake several times today and Blakes score did not go up!! My daughter ended up winning with close to 11000 votes!!! It holds true that after about 10-15 votes the count does not seem to go up!! The same thing happened and people were complaining that it was rigged and I myself complained because it was my daughter and another student that were very close at one point she was losing by 1000!!! She ended up winning by more then 3000 votes!!! Why would it be rigged??? What would be the point??? At this point it is a popularity contest!!!
Just did some additional voting. For every 1 vote for Connor - Blake would go up between 4-9 votes. Am I to believe at the exact time I vote that 4-9 family or friends are voting for Blake. Seems illogical. My daughter experienced the same issue when voting at 2am. Doesn't seem likely that many people would be voting at that time in the morning. I don't know what the issue is but it appears as if something is flawed. Does anyone know what prior weeks vote counts have been?
You get around 12 votes per tome you enter the poll. After that it doesn’t resgister. When you see the Your vote has Brennan couted at the top of the graph screen it won’t register anymore...it’s not rigged !! You just have to follow the system.
All of these kids undoubtedly deserve to win, but they should all have a fair shot at doing so, too. I don’t think anyone took a shot at an innocent kid by pointing out the flaws in the voting system. Blake may have a lot of family and friends voting, and if so that is fantastic! But between 2am-7am, I don’t think he had family and friends vote over 1,000 times for him. His vote increases with every other vote you cast. Makes no sense.

Did you ever think someone could be voting for Blake or another athlete at the same time as you're voting. It is shameful that people can't just have fun and not take this so seriously and worse yet, take digs at an innocent kid. They all deserve to win and they did by being nominated. Don't discredit another kid because it isn't the person close to your heart...that's just wrong!

It appears that an automated survey bot is being utilized to submit votes. That's very unfortunate and unfair to all the young athletes recognized in this article. What a shame! Congrats to all of those listed for your accomplishments!

The voting appears to be rigged—every time I cast a vote for Connor Blake’s number increases, too. I could see it happening once or twice but not every single time.
