As tobacco producers were held liable and we're proven to knowingly contribute to I'll health and death of those they sold their products to, why would those standards not also apply to the petroleum industry?
While this industry reaps staggering profits and receives enormous tax breaks and political favor from what I firmly believe are bought off governmental parties, we the people pay for their damages.
Look up what these "job creators" are behind all the pretty words, and their advantages while we the people bear the brunt of financial greed
There is only one earth, and we are all a part of it. Nothing and no one nor their children will be immune from the effects of environmental and social harm.

Heating of the atmosphere is directly proportional to total population on earth. Oil comalniea have nothing to do with population. Go after the users of fossil fuels, not the producers!!!! That means everyone!!!!

Marianne. The oil companies have also done a good job making sure we are hooked and dependent on their product. Of course they should share in the cost and take more responsibility. It's a no brainer.

Sorry Marianne , WRONG ! More than 50 % of the dirty crap bitumen oil from the Alberta tar sands is is controlled by Chinese foreign owned communist controlled companies in CHINA and the crap oil is destined for Asian owned companies so they can produce more plastic packaging crap and crapy plastic consumer goods for Walmart ! It's all about supply and demand. If people didn't demand so much of the supply (for heating our houses, fueling our cars, Suvs, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, boats, snow blowers, lawn mowers . . . and the list goes on) then the oil and gas companies wouldnt have to keep ramping up production. Its always easy to blame the "big bad company" but we need to look at ourselves as well.
