Why? By the time it is done we will already have driverless cars and we are wasting billions. Put in rapid transit bus like in Curitiba and upgrade the roads with lanes and sensors ready for the future

The highways going into Vancouver from the North, East and South are clogged 12 months of the year.
The roads out to UBC are busy morning and evening for 6 months only. The money is much better spent where it is really needed.
If Skytrain came to UBC, Kitsilano and Point Grey would end up looking like Yaletown to make it worth while.
The 99 buses that serve UBC now do a great job.

If SkyTrain is run to UBC, it is for the public too, not just for students. With SkyTrain, there's always a possibility of introducing more buses in the long run. With light rail there's more surface congestion and delays. SkyTrain is like vertical growth. Saves time and space.

While I support Skytrain expansion to UBC, why does the North Short keep contributing to Translink and getting shafted year after year, we still have a SeaBus! Ridiculous! Fix that first before adding more rapid transit for cities that already have it. Long term plan for Lonsdale and Marine Dr is more important.

I agree, Skytrain is the only viable options. Yes, it is more expensive, but light rail, or any other option that runs at grade - on the surface streets - would give the politicians a shiny new choo choo, but it would be obsolete and at full capacity on opening day. It makes no sense to waste money on a system that doesn't have the capacity to meet needs of the growing population.

Saving a few dollars to ignore urban planning, future density, the future of the city is the legacy we are facing from the short sightedness of baby boomers.
Our parents and grandparents have created a world in which living without a car or giant farm equipment on the street makes you a third class citizen....
We are using the term skytrain to describe a Subway. The current success of the skytrain in metro Vancouver speaks for itself.
God, too angry at old.people demanding only options that have a personal benefit to even write a response. Can't wait for the previous generations to die off so we can actually move forward as a culture together
Do whatever is the most cost effective. I think sky train is the most costly in this case. Take a look at the new mayor in Surrey. He wants to change the extension to Langley to sky train. All good but who is going to pay for it. The taxpayer. Enough already.

Why would you spend millions of dollars to expand skytrain to accommodate UBC whose demand for transport is BOTH seasonal and class time associated? Spend money on skytrain expansion to address the most population demand and overall usage year round. SHEESH

It would be nice to start with an extension to the Canada Line and then extend it further west.

Put more express buses on 41st.
Broadway is not the only possible feeder route into UBC from Skytrain.
