I’d say somewhere between “okay” and “lame.” Good on its own with lots of great elements, but ultimately, in terms of what it means for the overall show and it’s placement in the season...oh dear. This seems very highly inaccurate. The response doesn’t necessarily have a single thing to do with being a hater or cynic—in my case it comes from being an enormous, D&D-defending fan who was let down by the show for the first time. I don’t blame the wonderful work of Sapochnik, the cast, or anyone else with no responsibility for the scores of 100% valid reasons that the episode disappointed so many fans. They all did the most with what they had.

I have wanted to see a survey about the episode, these numbers are encouraging. Even on the Freefolk subreddit, there is a great deal of hate. Perhaps the cynics and haters are just more outspoken. Miguel Sapochnik is an incredible artist, I feel bad for everyone involved in the making of The Long Night, they deserve better.
