Is the long-term replacement for Ben Roethlisberger on the Steelers roster?

Mason Rudolph, Devlin Hodges or Paxton Lynch going forward? I think Devlin Hodges is a better quarterback because he's more like Big Ben, he could scramble get out of pocket to make plays. But the best Option is to bring in Colin Kaepernick. Because in today NFL you got have a fast QB to move around in pocket or escape the pocket. We got old school steel curtain for the defense just need offense.

    We need Newton,

Big Ben should come out okay, but if not, Mason Rudolph has all the skills and competencies to do well. You must have a solid running game to complement and effectively implement a passing attack. Mason is tough and there if Big Ben hits the ground..

We need a valuable backup quarterback just in case Big Ben goes down during the season. It time to get that number 7 Super Bowl Trophy. I think Colin Kaepernick would be a good backup quarterback for Big Ben and our Steelers. I been Steelers fan all day of my life.

Sid! My Man, Come on dude where are you going with all this ridiculous drama! Dobbs was ok in college! He was no DeShaun Watson. He's been subpar in the pros! No Shame, he made it! A lot of players don't get this far. Don't get me wrong, I like him, but, Mason was and is overall the better quarterback between the two. It is as simple as that! It's not about race but abilities and fitting a team's system. As a African American, I can see that fairly easy. With that said, Mason's not the answer for the future starting quarterback, either.

Why go after Newton or Bridgewater? If the Roethlisberger experiment thing doesn't pan out in the Steelers favor, then it would be much easier for the Steelers to move on with a first round draft selection possibly even a high draft selection, than deal with public dramatic outcry that usually comes with star quarterbacks that may be headed to the backside of their primes. Such as holding teams hostage to pay them a contract for bizarre amount of money. Why do that again, when you just got from underneath one? Hmmm! Get a Rookie with a rookie contract! Can you say the Dak! and the Dallas Cowboys! Although! Yes, pay Dak his money Dallas! He more than earned it!

At this time, it appears the Steelers have chosen to go all in with Big Ben. In reality, I don't think that's a bad decision considering that the clock is ticking on expiring contracts. To add to that, they have surrounded Ben with plenty of weapons (to include a big/fast receiver, a playmaker tight end, a fullback that is not injured prone, and a lighting quick runningback) to go with players that will be looking to redeem themselves this year. You know who I am talking about, JuJu, James Connor, Vance McDonald, and oh, who am I kidding, the whole offensive line. OH YEAH, let's not forget about a Defense that is starting to remind everyone of the Steelers defenses of the 70s, 90s and 2000s.

For the people saying sign Bridgewater or Newton, you are completely ignorant of football and your team. The Steeler's entire offense is schemed for a pocket passer, not a guy who looks off his primary target, tucks the ball and runs. The team would have to revamp the entire offense for that type QB. That is what Bridgewater, Newton, Winston, and even Dobbs did. Please watch the tape and stop talking about skin color you morons. Our coach is.....wait for it.......BLACK, Super BLACK, Turbo BLACK! He has input into what players play on his team. If he thought any of the guys you mention would give the team a better chance, he would push for them. He also knows football and would never switch to the running QB model. QBs are too small and weak to take that pounding, they break, bad!
Rudolph is the next starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a pretty good year last year even though his offense completely quit on him, he got massively concussed, he got bashed with a helmet, he was called a racist by a steaming pile of S$#@, and he was benched once. Through that all, he never once blamed anyone else, never once threw his teammates under the bus even though he rightfully could have. That is a true leader and he will be a successful starting QB in the NFL. Watch the You Tube video that shows every throw of his last year. There were tons of drops that were right in receivers hands, there were tips for interceptions, there was crappy route running, there was pathetic running, the tight ends sucked, the offensive line left every QB vulnerable, not just Rudolph. The whole offense quit when Ben went down. WATCH THE TAPE!

The Steelers need to get a replacement for Ben but it needs to be a young quarterback with a future not a quarterback who is halfway through his career

Sid McGuire you just made the stupidest comment I’ve seen in a long time, clearly you don’t understand the financial side of football whatsoever. You also sound like an absolute idiot by suggesting that they traded dobbs because of his skin color. Get real guy

Too many Steeler Fans never looks at stats which is why they will never make decisions at the NFL level. Rudolph had 2nd best completion percentage and 2nd best touchdown percentage when compared to everyone else drafted in the same draft class. His 1st year percentage numbers are better than darnold, rosen, and allen. At a combined 11 years of starting among those drafted in his class, only 2 did better on accuracy and td percentage than rudolph, that was mayfield year 1 and jackson in year 2. His interception percentage was better than mayfield and rosen last year. Comparing 1st year stats with everyone in his draft class, argument could be made he was 2nd/3rd best based on percentage numbers with him and jackson being 2nd/3rd to mayfield 1st year. He is up there, coming out of college i dont know what people saw in rosen that stats in college proved Rudolph was all around better except maybe pocket scrambling. 1st round talent everybody. Compare Rudolph to everyone drafted in the same class that is seen as a franchise qb and most will be surprised. I actually feel bad for him, underrated out of college, and not even 1 logical argument to prove he is not capable of being just as good if not better than everyone else getting 1st team reps for years to develop.

THE STEELER'S NEED TO ADDRESS THE QB POSITION 'TODAY", RIGHT NOW, HOW CAN THEY CONTINUE TO LET A NUMBER OF GOOD QB'S SLIP THROUGH THEIR FINGER'S??? TEDDI BRIDGEWATER WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXCELLENT CHOICE, CAM NEWTON WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXCELLENT CHOICE, TOO MANY TO LIST, , , , ,THE STEELER'S CONTINUE TO WORK A DOWNWARD SPIRAL THAT RESEMBLE'S THE 80'S, I BELIEVE IT'S THE OWNER'S WHO ARE HOLDING BACK ANY PROGRESS FOR THIS TEAM TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL. BEN IS OLDER AND SLOWER, THATS A FACT, , , ,THE STEELER'S (NEED) A QB, WHY WON'T THEY JUST ADMIT IT??? EVEN JOSH DOBBS WAS BETTER THAN WHAT THEY HAVE, , , ,FUNNY BUT, THE STEELER'S DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO GIVE A BLACK QB MUCH CREDIT? EVEN CHARLIE BATCH WAS A BACKUP, , , JOSH DOBBS SHOWED POTENIAL, BUT THE STEELER'S SEEM VERY CONTENT WITH YOUNG WHITE QB'S WHO COME OUT OF COLLEGE WITH QUESTIONABLE RECORDS??? MAYBE IT'S JUST ME BUT THE STEELER'S DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO WIN GAMES, THEY EVEN GOT RID OF NIX, A SOLID PLAYER FOR JT'S BROTHER, HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH TAPE ON HIM TO TELL IF HE'S A DECENT PLAYER???

One bad hit can knock any quarterback out of a game. Ben has suffered injuries every year. He is not a robot. At Ben's age, the GM is gambling with the team. Getting Cam Newton makes sense. Just keep him for one year or keep him if Ben retires . The Steelers will not receive a high draft selection because they don't tank seasons. So the only alternative is a free agent QB. Don't repeat the QB mistakes after Bradshaw retired: Horrible QB selections.
