Lawyers for migrant families separated at the border during President Trump's administration floated the idea of monetary compensation. Thoughts?
5,500 children were wrongfully separated from their parents during this "zero tolerance" policy — there must be some justice done, and monetary compensation is a good way to go about that.
Why should we give money to people who were trying to enter the country illegally? That's insane.
While the family separations were terrible, I don't think monetary compensation is the way to go. I'd rather see some real border policy reforms instead.
It doesn't matter what I think — President Biden already said monetary compensation is off the table, so it's a moot question.
This isn't an issue I care about.
