Who should Barack Obama appoint as Secretary of Interior?

Governor Granholm had claimed in several State-of-the-State speeches that she would be working for protecting the environment in Michigan, but all of her actions have been just to the contrary. She has instructed DEQ and DNR members to approve permits that are in direct conflict with any environmental protection of coastal dunes, watersheds and wetlands. Many are questioning how protected our surrounding Great Lakes are as a result of her actions. I have serious concerns regarding a Granholm appointment as Secretary of the Interior. If there's a chance for money to be made, she will make sure that whichever parkland is sold for a profit rather than protecting it for all of us and future generations to enjoy.

Governor Granholm would be a James Watt-disaster. The State of Michigan is being sued along with Dirk Kempthorne, Secretary of Interior, in federal court by citizens in Benton Harbor, Michigan to save Jean Klock Park, a test of the all-important Land and Water Conservation Act which protects parks nationwide. I testified to Congress about this and how Jennifer Granholm is working hand-in-glove with Whirlpool Corporation-backed developers to destroy this park--and the law. Someone in the Bush Administration strong-armed the NPS. Granholm's fully backing it. Say NO to Granholm.
