Should Facebook have shut down the group celebrating the Srebrenica massacre?

I think is better for people who use facebook. information aren't privacy.

Why is it that when someone is making negative comments about Jews, black people, women or homosexuals it is discriminating and illegal, but when it is about Muslims it is just “free speech” and even supporting genocide is not reason enough for action to be taken? Imagine for a second that someone in US made a group praising 9/11. We wouldn’t even be having this discussion as the group would be closed and his ass would be locked up in Guantanamo Bay before he could blink.

We, Muslims, are most uncivilized people of all. We live in stone age, our people are dieing from starvation cause our leaders steal all money from us, but we are so dumb, and we love our leaders. its Serbs who we blame for evrything, even when its raining. We did kill at leat 20 000 Serbs in Sarajevo, like somebody already said. But we managed to hide that from rest of the world. Back to topic, so our lifes are so desperate that we are experiencing orgazms right now, cause somebody in "real world - somewhere far far away outside of these huge 30km of FBiH." mentioned us. While other people talk about science and do useful things, we just cant describe how happy we are cause we managed to close shitty facebook group that is created in 14 seconds, and every 1 minutes theres new one with same name. Im afraid for my people, because, we are so retarded and dumb, and if it comes to new war, we will be like zombies. One bad ass Serb will kill 10, even 100 of us. Anyhow, we think for ourself that we are good warriors. Fact that we had 2x more soldiers then Serbs in last war, and we had 2x casualties is little bit strange..But we dont talk about that anyway. LOl. Retarded muslim

Hm...this "Muslim" above, who is obviously not a Muslim at all, dropping some craps here.
This is so pathetic comment that doesn't deserve any reply actually.
However, I could agree with all attitudes above, but I also believe that group "Noz,zica,Srebrenica" (translation of this is: Knife, Wire, Srebrenica - for those who doesn't understand) had to be closed at FB, especially because of FB policy regarding such things (hate, etc.).
But, I also strongly agree with comment that FB should track all users (negative one, of course) from that group, in order to have possibility to provide those info to the Interpol or any other interested party.
All those people are potential terrorists and killers (and some of them probably already are), so why not to put some charges on them since they DID act with clear and precise calls and intention against other people, and they did it in public (FB is public place, right?).

Im muslim, but I gotta admit. We are worst people of all. If people at all! We killed thousand of Serbs in war almost 20 years ago, and now we look like victims. Our brother from al qaeda are our best friends. You fat freaks from USA can hate Serbs while sitting in chair and getting fatter, but that wont change fact how ugly you are. Maybe we should repeat 11.9 so you moron could realize who truly we are. Muslim.

    Dear all,

I am not really a spokesperson for the whole group "CLOSE group noz zica srebrenica," but since I was extremelly active in it in last few days, let me just share some observations.
As noted in the article above, the group "Noz Zica Srebrenica" does not merely deny or just celebrate genocide which occured in Srebrenica - and which was, by the way, legally recognized as such by international courts - it calls for another action of a same sort in the name of fight against "radical islam" and the "Serbian freedom to defend Europe from Islam." Hence, we do not speak of a "mere" denial or celebration, but indeed incitement to action. There is a reason to worry about this for following reason: some of the "founding fathers" of the group "Noz Zica Srebrenica" (according to their own profiles at Facebook) are Bosnian Serbs residing in Srebrenica, the sourounding area or larger area of Bosnia proper. This might be unknown to most of you, but in Srebrenica itself the survivors of genocide meet their yesterdays butchers on daily bases, as many of these criminals are still free since the legal action against them has not been started or completed. I am sure that you will understand that to the majority of Bosnians this type of message under circumstances comes as a cause for great distress and indeed alarm.

We do not even have to stress that under laws of most European countries (including EU law) denying, celebrating or inciting hatred on the basis of race, nationality or religion is a crime - even if we stay in the realm of the US First Amendment I think, given situation and the context, "the clear and present danger" test would be satisfied (please see its application in the US Supreme Court case Beauharnais v. Illinois, upholding prohibition of hate speech with a potential of inciting to violence).

However this may be, members of the group "CLOSE group noz zica srebrenica" have been torned with same questions just like the author of the article above - is shunning of the group violation of the freedom of speech? Indeed, many of us thought that what should really be done is not shut down the group but merely raise public awareness in Bosnia and the wider region too; alert the media and Facebook itself; and use the presence of the pro-genocide group as a form of "social indicator" of the conscious of many people in Serbia and among Bosnian Serbs. And, I think, results in the end were encouraging: the group "CLOSE group noz zica srebrenica" gained more than 16.000 members from all over the world in some 3 days. Considerable number of members are Bosnian Serbs or persons from Serbia proper, joining the group in order to distance themselves from henious acts of their compatriots. As a result of the public pressure, Facebook shut down the group - but I think this action is justified insofar that there was no form of "prior restraint" or censorship; the result was, I believe, a result of the functioning of the market place of ideas. Also there remains a looming question which, naturally, I am not able to resolve here: is there a line to draw when it comes to freedom of speech in these situations; and, second, does the First Amendment, by virtue of the company being registered in the US, extend troughout the whole world? First question is a matter of discussion; but to a second question I think answer is definitely not.

I am Muslim and I disapprove censorship. Don't get me wrong? What happened in Bosnia is the biggest blunder of so called 20th century civilization. I cried for all the massacres, tortures, rapes that happened in the middle middle of Europe for years. In US, Racism is illegal. When it is publicly done, it might get oneself into trouble. I think Facebook should track the members of this group in case that list is requested by Interpol, but should not shut down their channel where their hatred stays in servers. You can not debate with terrorism or faschism or other bloody ideologies, but you can let these group come to the surface so that they get public attention. Closing the group won't make these people give up their messed up minds, but it might even make them go to extremes. Facebook should not take sides in such debates, waste her resources on such matters, and she should concentrate on enhancing the platform.

It is better to see the bad guys, then let them hide. I want the pirates to fly their flags all the time, so I am for warned before I go there. Banning them just makes them smarter about hiding their real intentions.

I don't think they should have shut down the group. Aside from the free speech argument, what's to say Facebook won't start editing user's profiles to remove questionable content? It's a slippery slope of censorship.
